Ohhh girl, let me tell you. The struggle has been REAL trying to be comfortable in my clothes over the past few weeks. Since this is my second pregnancy, I am showing a lot faster than I did with Camille. I’m only 16 weeks and I don’t think I was this size with Camille until I was about 20 weeks. Therefore, I had to find some comfy bottoms to work into my wardrobe. I think there is a limitation as to when one should have on sweats or track pants seven days a week as a wardrobe option lol. I’m just saying!

I had some old maternity jeans that I kept from my last pregnancy. When I tried them on,  the jeans offered little relief, the fit was not flattering AT ALL and they lacked style. They were bootcut, no distressing and my butt looked less than impressive lol.  Y’all know I love distressed, ripped jeans and really wanted a pair this go around to work into my wardrobe. Thank goodness PinkBlush has a few options in various colors that fit perfectly and still allows me to be all stylish and what not.

Listen, when I got these in the mail and put them on, I literally exhaled. Lol, they are so comfy, my butt looks good in them and the distressing on them is perfection. I can’t wait to order a few other colors such as grey and black. Now I have a pair of go to jeans that I can go from running errands with Camille to date night! I enjoyed pairing it with my faux fur jacket and booties. It was nice to look stylish the day we shot this look … never mind that I’ve been in pjs or sweat pants all weekend long lol.

PinkBlush also offers NON-MATERNITY options. So if you aren’t preggers, you do not need to feel left out. Definitely check out their regular clothing line for great, affordable pieces as well. There is something for everyone!

Henri Bendel Flat Top Sunglasses on sale $77!!

Ok so let me start off by saying this Zara sequin sleeve jacket is no longer available. I purchased it at Zara’s last sale which was during the summer. Its one of those jackets that you know will cause attention. You will get compliments all day long from fashionistas alike! I wore this to brunch before the shoot and couldn’t take it off, I loved it so much. So before I posted this jacket, I made sure to go to google and search to find similar sequin sleeve jackets like mine. Fortunately I found a few! So don’t be too mad at me, ok?!

I’m a sucker for army green, especially in a jacket. It compliments my skin tone and I am all for it! So I typically always reach for one when I am out shopping. But, what I liked about this one, was that it was not the same as my other 3 olive green jackets lol. This sequin sleeve jacket makes such a statement and uplifts a plain outfit. I mean all I am rocking is my “Boss So Hard” tee (get you one y’all!) and some ripped jeans. You can easily see how this jacket transforms this simple outfit and makes it stand out.

I know I’ve been MIA lately. But, the holiday season has me so busy with preparing for guests, shopping for gifts and trying to get everything in order. But, I do have some looks for you guys coming up soon. So stay tuned!!

Y’all, this Zara dupe bodysuit is a good one! I initially saw this bodysuit on Zara’s website and in store and I adored it. Bodysuits have a way that fits and lays so easily on the body and perfect to wear with jeans or a skirt. This bodysuit retails at Zara for $50! Well, your girl found it on Shein for only $22! Save your coins when you can ladies, save your coins!

I kept it simple and paired it with my favorite pair of flared jeans, layered necklaces and these gorgeous shades from The Impeccable Pig. These shades scream 70s vibe and pretty much set the entire look off! This Zara dupe bodysuit looks like the original version and fits just as nice. You could even layer a fur vest on top of this to take it to the next level. It was warm on the day we shot this look, so I didn’t even bother to pull out my heavy fur vest. But, don’t you love it when you can create a variety of looks just off of one piece? I sure do!

I linked a few  Zara dupe bodysuit that I thought you might love too. I’m contemplating in grabbing them all because its such an easy way to create a simple, stylish look. These days, with the chaos of the holidays, no one has time to spend on trying to create an outfit. With this Zara dupe bodysuit, just put on cute bottoms and go on your merry way!

How do you love this Zara dupe bodysuit?

How would you rock it?

I often receive emails and DM’s from my followers asking for help with getting help with blogging, partnering with brands and to check out their blogs to give my thoughts and opinions on improvements.  I guess after almost 3 years in the game, I better know a little sumthin’! Not only that, its also flattering that you trust my opinion. You guys respect what I do and see me as someone you can approach to even ask me!! It truly makes me happy that my followers see me in this light.

Today I was working on a “Pitch 101” presentation to go over with a friend of mind who is also a blogger. In the past week or so, I’ve gotten a few emails or messages asking about blogging. It got me to thinking about offering blogger consultation services to those of you who are interested in speaking to me regarding blogging. I truly believe this will be a great benefit for those of you who want to learn more or just go get my feedback.

I will offer different packages for the blogger consultations so that there is something for everyone. From the person who  aspires to start a blog but no clue on where to begin, how to pitch and partner with brands, improving your social media presence to performing a blog audit if you’re already in the game. How does that sound??

I will be working on getting the blogger consultation packages going over the next few weeks. I believe this is going to be a great way for us to grow together in this blogging world. Its no longer the time to operate in fear, but to achieve the things we feel passionate and strongly about! Am I right?!

Are you interested in my blogger consultation service??

Click HERE to review my services and pricing and lets get started! If you have any questions before getting started, I  would love to hear from you via email if you’re interested.  If you are not interested in blogging, share this with a friend who is! If you are a business owner and  want some assistance with Social Media, drop me a line too!

Hey Loves!

So today I am coming to you with a little coffee talk, chit chat or what have you. This has been on my mind a little bit and I thought I’d share with you all. I often share little tidbits on blogging and how to make it work for you. But, I haven’t shared the down side to it. There are quite a few areas that I can dive in to regarding that. But, lets talk about what makes blogging what it is. The people behind the blog who you follow. The actual bloggers themselves!

Now I am not gonna give any names or try to call people out. But, some of these bloggers out here are a trip. Some are in it for the money, recognition and yes the likes. I live in Dallas and there are a TON of bloggers here. Its almost like the darn mecca for bloggers. Because of that, I have met many at social events, blog conferences or meet ups. The great thing about living in a city with tons of bloggers is that you get to meet others who do what you do and  get what the blog life is all about. Most importantly, bloggers with whom you can chat, collaborate or become friends and grab dinner together! I am fortunate to know quite a few of bloggers who I enjoy hanging with and are happy to call my tribe.

But, honey let me tell you about those who do not meet my tribe category. The snobby ones who can’t bother to say hello, shake your hand or even hold a little small chat convo with you. The blogger clique who always appear to be at the same blogger event or photographed brand meeting together. Sometimes I think, were they the only ones offered an opportunity? No girl, they just looking out for their clique. Essentially, they are getting money together and ensure that their clique has “the plug” as y’all like to call it these days.

Disclaimer: This post is not meant to bash folks, but just to share what I have experienced and witnessed for myself!

So lets begin our coffee chat shall we?

I recall attending a store event where myself and a few other bloggers here in the Dallas were invited to attend as featured guests. I specifically recall one blogger, who I won’t give a name, left me with a bad impression. So I walked up to her and introduced myself and told her that I followed her on Instagram. She gave me the driest response and looked as so bothered that I was even near her. I’m like really though? Is this how you treat people in general? Her attitude was just so stank and unwelcoming. I couldn’t believe it!

Now, I am not going to make this about race or not, but I did wonder if that played a part in her attitude. Also, I know bloggers, who like myself, are of the melanated nature and have all said the same about her. I made sure to unfollow her that night because guess what? I am not going to contribute to you getting any coin from me. Not a click, like, follow or purchase will come from me to support your blog. First impressions are lasting! Every time I see her at an event, I strongly resist the urge to roll my eyes or give her a severe side eye lol.

Not supporting up and coming bloggers!

If you guys follow me on Insta Stories on Instagram, you know I typically do a “Follow Friday” a few times a month. Follow Friday is to share with my followers some of my favorite up and coming bloggers in the game who I feel they should follow. These bloggers generally have a following of under 15k and are deserving of more eyes on their Instagram!

I mentioned blogger cliques earlier and I noticed that one of the bloggers I used to follow from that same clique, just so happened to be doing the same thing. Well, her and her clique, were all doing Follow Friday and telling their followers to follow everyone in their clique. What annoyed me, is that these bloggers all have over 150k followers!! I personally thought, how obvious was it that they only support themselves?? Why not share the love with bloggers who are trying to get to those numbers? I get supporting your tribe, but again, to me they do not show tribe behavior. Its clique behavior all up and thru and I cannot get behind it.

The constant lack of diversity!

Let’s not even talk about lack of diversity when it comes to blogging. I could write a book on that for sure. As an African-American blogger in the game, I cannot tell you how many times I see only white bloggers at brand luncheons, campaign events and the like when I am on Instagram. I’m sorry, but its ridiculous!

Some of these Instagram pages lack any African- American bloggers and when you do see one, you have to scream for joy and shout it to the highest rooftop on their page to please share more. No, I don’t want to be invited so they can meet their quota or to take the heat off of people. But, I just believe your brand reach or target audience has quite a few African-Americans or even Latinas and the like as well. So, where are they??? Why don’t we see them? Were they even invited, reached out to, or asked for an opportunity for collaboration??

Why do I feel so strongly about this?

I know you may be reading this post thinking, dang girl, who made you mad? Lol. Actually, after blogging for almost 3 years, I am just starting to feel some kind of way about the things I see. I’ve been unfollowing a ton of bloggers I use to love because I just cannot take the fakery anymore.

One blogger, I use to absolutely love about five years ago! She was even following me back then when I was just taking outfit of the day pics in my backyard. She would even comment often on my pics. I noticed that she has changed so much over the time that her blog has taken off. She won’t even turn her DM on her Instagram. She tells you to go find everything on her blog. I mean, I get it girl, you probably would get tons of the same questions. But, its not what you say, its how you say it! I had to let unfollow her and a few others who appeared to be a bit beside themselves because of their popularity and growth. It just is what it is!

What lesson can you take away from this coffee chat?

I know that personally I am in a period in life where either you are real or fake. There is no in between. At this stage in my life where I am a wife, mother, blogger and everything else under the sun, things have to make sense. How I utilize my time and efforts are of the utmost importance to me. This is why its important to me to surround myself with others who like to encourage, uplift and motivate one another.

I enjoy meeting other women who are interested in blogging or just feel like we may have a connection. I enjoy getting emails or DMs from my followers who feel they can relate to me! It means a lot. I guess I am saying no matter how you elevate in life, be it career, ambitions or ventures, be true to yourself and others. Be the person you would be proud of! At the end of the day, the number of followers, likes or your bank account will not be how you are remembered. Am I right, or am I right?

Share with me some of your gripes with bloggers! This post is not meant to bash folks, but just to share what I have experienced and witnessed for myself!

Y’all when I tell you I was so excited when I saw this denim dress at Anthropologie the other week. This dress hugs the curves, has a corset top, heavy denim material perfect for layering for the fall season but was also under $50!! It didn’t take me long at all to take it straight to the register to bring it home! I mean who can beat that deal right?

I grew up in the church. Church of God in Christ (C.O.G.I.C) to be exact! I’m talking all day Sunday, Tuesday night, Wednesday Night and back again on Sundays. We could not wear pants period. So I always had a slew of skirts and dresses on hand. A denim dress was a constant go to for me to wear to church during the week. So when I saw this piece, it gave me all the feels. Yes, it was annoying to only wear skirts and dresses, but to this day I cannot go to church in pants lol. I guess old habits die hard.

Anyways, this dress has the options of being worn so many ways. You could layer a tie knot blouse underneath, a turtleneck or even top it with a blazer. The denim is a nice, heavy, weight so its perfect for fall. I already see myself wearing this dress with a blazer and some baaaad knee boots. I seriously cannot wait for it to get cold hear in Dallas. My boots and fall clothes are so ready to come out and play! Dallas weather, whats good?!

Question of the day?

Tell me, when it comes to going to church, do you wear pants or ONLY a skirt/ dress? I would love to know!

Check out this dress and a few other cute denim dress options that I have linked below!

Hey Loves!

If you’re on Instagram like I am and follow a lot of fashion bloggers, you will see the plaid blazer appears to be the “IT” item of the fall season. Its not hard to see why not: clean classic lines, a great layering option and a simple, sophisticated look. I cant wait to  pair my $35 Target blazer with wide leg pants, jeans or long, flowy skirts!

Ok, I know your eyes grew big when you read that this blazer is only $35 and from Target! I saw this piece online and on one of my many, weekly trips to Target. I knew I had to have it! It has a deep purple line if you look closely, which makes it so fun to add contrasting colors to make the purple show even more. I went all jewel tones with this oldie but goodie handbag, my trusty Zara bandana scarf and gold, satin mules!

Graphic tees are always popular and a go to for when I want to make a plain outfit more fun. I went home to Detroit a month ago and had to get another Detroit Vs Everybody tee in white and black. Be prepared to see me in this bad boy all the time. Y’all know I love my city and I represent Detroit whenever I can.

So how do you like the plaid blazer trend?

Do you see yourself participating? I’d say its a definite staple that you may be surprised how often you reach for it! Especially with the crazy, changing temps we’ve all been experiencing lately over the U.S.  I’m already seeing myself pairing this blazer, belted with some palazzo pants!!

See you Sunday for a special travel post! I’ll be sharing a travel diary of our family road trip to Traverse City, Michigan!

Hey loves!

So I was contacted by Chrystal, the owner and designer of Fifteen and Fifteen, a handbag and accessories company, to check out her handbag line for review. As soon as I clicked on her site, I was immediately drawn to the fanny pack and knew I had to have it. This Fifteen and Fifteen fanny pack is leather, big enough to hold my iPhone 7plus (because thats important) and you can also wear it as a cross body or clutch. I love when I can get a versatile handbag that I can style multiple ways. It also comes in burgundy and black. Absolutely perfect for fall season, am I right?!

Its so funny, I remember back in the day (late 80s, early 90s) rocking a fanny pack a time or two. My mom had one too. It was the age of convenience over fashion. If we were headed to a theme park or field trip, the fanny packs came out to play. Too bad they were not as cute as this one. Clearly we committed a few fashion dont’s back then! Lord, bless us!

Anyways, its hot as heck here in Dallas. So I kept this look simple and wore it with t-shirt and jeans. Oh, and this Zara bandana scarf? I happened to find myself there the other week (oops). I had to have it for only $12! Sometimes, you just need a little “something” to pull an outfit all together and I believe this scarf did just that. I’ll be wearing it all season long with blazers, jackets, wrapped around my handbag and even a bracelet. I can’t wait!

Where can you purchase this Fifteen and Fifteen fanny pack?

Head to Chrystals site or check out the ones I linked below. Everyone will be asking you where can they find this unique piece. Best part, its very affordable too. Trust me, you won’t be sorry!

Hey Loves!

So I was in Target the other day (what else is new?) and saw this color block leather skirt beauty on the rack. Of course, I had to pick it up and try it on. This color block leather skirt is a new piece from the Who What Wear collection at Target. If you are not familiar, Who What Wear is a clothing line that features on trend, affordable clothing options exclusively at Target. I am a sucker for anything leather, so add in a bit of color blocking and all for $32?! I’m here for it!

I typically don’t shoot fall looks so early considering its about 90 degrees here in Texas. But, I wanted to get this look out to you guys before it sells out. Its such a great piece that you can wear with blazers, sweaters, blouses. Shall I go on? So I sacrificed myself a bit (and my edges lol) to bring you this look even in the heat. I do it for my followers!

I kept this look simple by pairing it with a black bodysuit and black heeled sandals. The skirt makes such a statement on its own. There’s really no need to do anything else. Don’t you love those pieces in your closet that just speak for themselves?

Have you checked out the Who What Wear fall collection at Target?

What new items had you at hello?? I linked a few of my picks for you to check out as well.

Happy shopping!

Happy Friday eve!!

I don’t know about you but the kimono trend is here and I am feeling it. Kimonos can sometimes be a bit tricky to pull off. They can be too long and drag to the floor, too big to where you feel like you’re wearing a bath robe or even the fabric can be too flimsy or silky. Basically, you have to find one that works for you in terms of fit, use of wear and how you plan to rock it!

It was Zara (one of my fav places to shop) who had some super cute kimonos this season and I fell in love. I wanted them all! Fortunately, the Zara sale came thru and your girl got two to cure my craving. I particularly love how this kimono has buttons so it draws you in a bit and creates a shape. This eliminates the problem of feeling like you’re drowning in fabric. I wore it to brunch with a fellow blogger this past weekend. So of course we took to the streets and took some pics afterwards. I got soon many compliments and it made me think to round up some kimonos for you to try as well!

But, before we get into that, lets discuss a few things to look for when buying a kimono and styling it.

First, fit is everything! Kimonos typically come with a belt which is helpful to cinch you in and create a shape. But, if the belt is a bit too thin or give you bath robe vibes, consider wearing a wider belt with your kimono instead. Sometimes just because a belt comes with an item, doesn’t mean you should wear it. Switching out the belt gives you an opportunity to give the kimono some extra flair. Not to mention, make it your own unique piece!

Second, wear fitted clothes underneath the kimono such as a dress, skinny jeans or pants, pencil skirt or shorts like I am wearing here. For me, I don’t feel I would look good with loose clothes under an already flowy kimono. As you see in the pic, I chose to wear a cami and shorts which are more fitted to my body versus being baggy. I have seen some style the kimono with loose fitted pants and it looks amazing on them. But, I’m 5’3 so I want at least one piece to be fitted to my body so that I am now drowning in material.

Thirdly, determine what length is best for you. Kimonos come in various lengths which I love. That means if you are on the shorter side, maybe a kimono that hits at the thigh is best for you. You can also go midi length with the kimono which would be a great layering piece with a fitted dress. Ankle length kimonos also look great with pants or skinny jeans. The one I am wearing is a bit in between midi and ankle. So it worked perfectly styling it with shorts.

I hope these tips were a bit helpful in finding the perfect kimono. I’ve linked 21 for you to shop all under $50!! I already have a few of these on my wish list!

Which one is your favorite? Are you here for the kimono trend or nah??
