I’ve always been a book worm ever since I was a child. I guess when you are an only child, you have to do something to keep yourself occupied. I’ve been wanting to do a post about book recommendations for the longest. I thought it would be fun to do one each season and share what my reads are. I don’t know about you, but I love reading stories that are based in the current season that I am in. Its something about it that makes it more real and familiar. Especially fall and winter, its when I crave reading even more! I love being curled up on the couch with a cozy blanket or a roaring fire with a hot drink! Or even at a cafe with a cup of coffee or in my car with the window down to catch the crisp breeze. Am I making you want to pick up a book yet?!

I love fiction books! I feel like I can use my imagination to dream up the characters, the setting, and the moments that are occurring in the story. You really won’t see me with a self help, autobiography or anything like that. I adore light reads that helps me to relax and unwind. Even a good mystery novel will do it for me! Anyhow, I am excited to share my favorite winter fiction book recommendations with you. I’ll give a brief synopsis of 5 of the books shown in the picture, otherwise this will be an extremely lengthy post. I have also linked all of the books for you below so you can order them.  So lets get to it!

1. Delicious by Ruth Reichl

This book right here, A-MAAAZZINNG! I am reading it again for the second time and honestly I might read it AGAIN! It’s a beautifully written book about a girl named Billy who has moved to New York,  away from her family in California, especially her big sister, to interview for a job at a legendary food magazine called “Delicious!” Billy has an impeccable palette, however, she does not cook and has no intentions of doing so. But, has an interest in food and writing! She goes on her interview and is offered the job after a series of tests. While working, she discovers a mystery in the library of the building. I don’t want to give too much of this book away, but you MUST read it! The storytelling, characters and the mystery that is involved is just amazing to read. Not to mention, the way she speaks about food makes me want to catch a flight to New York and find these places she goes to! You know its good when its recommended by Oprah as well! This book is just a pure joy to read and will always be #1 in terms of my  fiction recommendations!

2. The Gift of a Charm by Melissa Hill

When I finished reading this book I just gave a loud sigh. It was just perfect! I hated that it was over! The character is Holly O’Neill and the story is set during winter time in New York. Holly owns a charm bracelet that was given to her in her childhood. So its very special to her!! Holly works at a vintage consignment shop and one day found a charm bracelet in pocket of a coat that was sent to the store to sell. So she goes on a search for the owner and the story begins to unfold! The ending to this book is such a surprise and will have you shocked. Perfect, just perfect!

3. A Gift from Tiffany’s by Melissa Hill

So this book is the first one I read from author, Melissa Hill. I enjoyed it so much that I went to the store and bought “The Gift of a Charm” and “A Gift to Remember.” Melissa Hill does an amazing job of making you feel you are right there watching the story unfold. The way she links all of these loose ends is just amazing to read! This story is set in New York at Christmas Time (apparently I love New York based stories, cant you tell?) with the main character Ethan Greene. Now, I typically don’t read fiction based on the male because I don’t feel as connected. But, this one just warmed my heart after the first chapter! Ethan and his daughter are visiting New York from London during Christmas time with his girlfriend, Vanessa. Ethan has plans of proposing to Vanessa while they are there in New York, as of course its the most wonderful time of the year! Well, Ethan purchases the ring at Tiffany’s and as he and his daughter leave the building, an accident occurs changing everything!

4. Accused: A Rosato & Dinunzio Novel by Lisa Scottoline

Oh how I love a good mystery novel. I have about ten of Lisa Scottoline mystery/crime novels and I am never disappointed. I enjoy reading mystery novels in the fall and winter season too. I guess it just makes it all the more mysterious? I don’t know lol. This story is based on Mary Dinunzio, an attorney at an all female law firm in Philadelphia. She just made partner, getting engaged and life is good! That is until she takes on her youngest client, Allegra, a 13 year old girl who believes that the man who was accused of killing her older sister is innocent! Mary takes on the case and girl, its just gets good! If you like mystery novels like me, try Lisa Scottoline line of mystery books. So good and I am over here playing detective too lol!

5.  A Gift to Remember by Melissa Hill

Ok, back to Melissa Hill because I just love her books! Another goodie set in NYC during Christmas time! Darcy is a book lover who works at a small bookstore. She heads to work on her bike one day and literally runs her bike into this man walking his dog on the street. The man is knocked out cold! He is taken to the hospital and the dog is left on the street. Of course she feels terrible, so she takes the dog and tries to return it to its owner. Unfortunately, the stranger lost his memory from the accident. So Darcy keeps the dog while the man is recovering in the hospital. She begins her search as to who this man is so that his family can find him and she can return the dog. Along the way, she gets a little smitten with this “stranger” and wonders if he is the man for her! This is just a wonderful read and I could not predict the ending.

Ok, my fingers are tired! LOL. I’ve linked all the books below to my favorite winter fiction book recommendations. I would love for you all to get these books and let me know your thoughts! I hope you enjoyed this post. Be sure to look out come Spring for my next book recommendations. I think this will be such a fun series! I cant wait to share more!

Relationship goals, closet goals, hair goals, shoe goals, life goals! Y’all I am about wore out from all of these “goals.” Now don’t get me wrong, I’ve seen a many a picture where closet, hair and shoe goals have been met! But, relationship goals?! Let’s think about it. Most times when we say or refer to relationship goals its due to a picture or a video we’ve seen on the web. The internet has a funny way of making everyone lives looks so easy breezy. Its mainly because we allow people to see what we want them to see. But, we all know that we are only seeing a snippet of someone’s life, right?

Now, I know Eric and I are serving up all kinds of fierceness in these pictures.  This dress by Rent the Runway, LIFE! And yes, many will look at them and say, #relationshipgoals. And its nothing truly wrong with saying that. I know its a little bit of a compliment. But, I think its important that people have a true understanding about what relationships are and the work it actually takes before we start hash tagging and what not. Relationships aren’t always easy! I don’t always feel rainbows and butterflies when I see my husband. I am more so giving him side eye about the lightbulb that needs to be changed or how he doesn’t put my lotion back after he uses it. Yes, that really irritates the life out of me lol. But, real talk, thats just some petty stuff that he does that irks me. I am sure he has his list of things that I do that works his nerves too. Eric, if you are reading this, don’t come on here listing stuff I do that get on your nerves! Don’t try me! Lol.

I think its so important for todays generation to fully understand the importance of healthy relationships. I see so much in the news and social media that troubles me about people getting involved with the wrong person. I know I will teach Camille that she is a beautiful, intelligent and fierce woman who deserves to find a husband to treat her as such. Its important for us as adults, to really inform today’s generation about what healthy relationships really are. They should know that healthy relationships are when you are loved, treated with respect and kindness. Also, that relationships may have its ups and downs too. I mean nobody is perfect! Am I telling the truth?

Relationships come in all forms and everyones experience is different. Its nothing wrong with that! So long as its REAL!!! Some of y’all are married or with your boo thang and you’ve never had an argument, you’re so deep in love and can’t spend a second away from your bae. He’s the best thing since sliced bread and your relationship is so easy. Ok, then great! But, over this way, thats not how OUR relationship roll. Eric and I like our alone time to chill and do our own thing or watch our own tv shows, we roll our eyes at each other more so than giving each other the dreamy eyes. I get on his nerve and he gets on my last. We fuss and get into arguments! There has been a few times where Eric could catch these hands lol. We’ve gone days without speaking to each other (that was wayyyy back when, the Lord has brought us a mighty long way lol). But, we also love each other very much and he supports me as if I can do anything in the world. So now that you know this, does it mean we are not considered “relationship goals??” Of course not!

I like to roll with this hashtag I found on Instagram that I find more fitting and just makes more darn sense, #relationshipsbelike. Yes, thats more like it! I think that helps to broaden and round out what relationships truly are. Relationships be like love, respect, honor, fussing, fighting, making up, laughter, joy, pain and support etc. Yep, this is one that I can get down with! Now trust, I am not spilling our business to the world in this blog post. But, I like to keep it real honey and if I can’t do that on my own blog, then where can I do that at?!

Let me know your thoughts on the matter! I would love to have some dialogue and hear your opinions!
