5 Pc Newborn Gift Set by Its my Party Kids

How cute are these onesies by “Its My Party Kids?” I love anything personalized. Especially baby clothes! It makes it just more interesting and adorable if you ask me. When I saw all of the cute baby and toddler clothing “Its My Party Kids” had to offer, I knew I had to support! This particular set offers four onesies and one bib. The quality of the pieces are really nice and they are also super soft. My husband Eric particularly liked this set because of the crown with Xavier name on it. He sometimes call Xavier, King X! So it was only fitting of course!

Well, where to begin with the two month update? It seems like time has flown by and my baby is already two months. Xavier is so much more alert and interactive now. I truly love seeing him look at me intently, seeing his gummy smiles and also lifting his head like a champ! He just got his two month shots last week also. I was not looking forward to it. There is nothing great about seeing your helpless baby getting stuck with needles. I was prepared to have to deal with a cranky baby all day. But, he pulled through it like a champ! After his shots he took a long nap. We basically cuddled and nursed all day long. There’s nothing like a mothers touch to make things all better, right?

It seems like everyone wants to know if Xavier is sleeping through the night yet. The answer is absolutely not! Its been very difficult during this newborn hazing phase for me to get any rest. You know people always say to sleep when the baby is sleep? Well, thats a load of bull. By the time I decide to lay down for a nap, he wakes right up. There’s so much to try to get done in a day.  For instance, getting a chance to sit down and eat lunch or even take a shower. So getting a nap always seems to come last. I honestly don’t expect Xavier to sleep through the night just yet. He’s still a newborn and if I recall correctly, Camille didn’t sleep through the night until she was about four months old. So I am giving it time and pushing through it. Coffee has been my best friend and my right hand man! The bags under my eyes are heavy, but I know this phase won’t last forever. Thank the Lord!

Xavier has been picking up weight pretty nicely. He was 5.5 pounds at birth and at his 8 week check up, he now weighs 10 pounds! It makes me feel amazing that my baby is plumping up so nicely on my breast milk alone. Breast feeding is very important to me. I breastfed Camille until my supply slowed down which was around 11 months. I plan to breast feed Xavier  until a year, if possible. Breast feeding can be challenging! I remember with Camille, it took about a month or so before I got the hang of it. With Xavier, now that I know what to expect, its second nature to me. I’m praying our journey last until a year as he is my last baby.  So I want to soak up this special bonding experience for as long as possible.

Hey Loves!!

Wow, its been a while since my last post! Things have been very busy around here at the Green household. For one, we welcomed my son, Xavier Drew Green, into the world on June 25, 2018!! We are trying to find our new normal with a newborn in the house. Let me tell you, its no joke! Camille is a wonderful big sister! She is very helpful and loves her baby brother so much. As for me, I am recovering just fine! It’s an adjustment to get use to sleepless nights. Not to mention managing a toddler as well as a newborn!! It’s a struggle, but its worth it knowing my family of four is complete. I asked you all on Instagram if you wanted to read my birth story! 100% of you said yes! So sit back, relax and read how Xavier decided to enter the world and change our lives forever!

Sunday night, June 24th, at 39 weeks 2 days, I started having strong contractions around 11:30 pm! They were about five mins apart, then to 10 then to 8 mins for over an hour. Hubby called our hospital to let them know and they said to come in if we would like. I recall with Camille that my contractions were very sporadic. We weren’t even sure if I was really experiencing labor or Braxton Hicks contractions with Camille. But, with Xavier, the contractions were very much consistent, time wise! We knew we better leave ASAP because they got stronger and closer together. It hurt like heck and I couldn’t talk thru them much less breathe thru them. So I knew the time was coming!

We got ready to leave for hospital and woke Camille up from bed. At this point it was almost 2am!! We drove to the hospital, contractions coming faster and stronger!! The pain was so unbearable, I was gripping the car door with all my might. In looking back, I don’t  recall the pain being that bad with Camille. It seemed like it was taking forever to get to the hospital. I remember telling Eric to hurry up and drive! LOL. Our hospital is only 15 minutes away, but I swear it felt like forever!  We finally made it to the  hospital. Eric pulled up to the door and ran in to get me a wheelchair. I’m having contractions in the wheelchair and trying to breathe thru them. Eric had to park the car so I was waiting for him and Camille to walk in. As I wait in the lobby, I felt a gush and felt like I peed on myself. Omg, my water broke!

We made it to L&D floor and they check me in. In my mind, everyone was moving at a snails pace. I told them my water broke and I had to go to the bathroom. The nurses let me go to the bathroom and I had to walk myself to the bed. I found that so crazy that they weren’t helping me walk to my bed. Like hello, my water just broke! I know they are Labor and Delivery nurses and have seen it all, but I needed someone to understand my strife and help me lol.

Well, they check my cervix and I’m already 7cm dilated and 100% effaced! I told them I wanted an epidural. They kept taking forever finding my vein for IV. It took THREE attempts. Yes, THREE! Imagine having contractions and someone trying to poke you with a needle too. Not fun! Again, it seemed like no one was in a hurry to get me this IV put in so that I could get an epidural. While laying in bed, I’m shaking from pain and fear. I began to feel fluid pouring out. I tell them, so they check me again and I’m already 9 cm!! At that time my contractions were now 2 mins apart!! They called the on call doc to tell her to come (mind you I thought that was already done 30 mins ago when I arrived). My nurses also told me that the doctor lives about 20 minutes away. Excuse me, what?! Who is not holding this baby in so that a doctor can get here is me! Let’s get this over with! Lol.

I start to feel pressure and they check again. I’m 9.5!! They tell me they can try to give the epidural, but it may not take and I would have to do it natural. I cried because I’m absolutely terrified at the thought of natural birth. Especially since the pain I was experiencing was so terrible. I’ve always planned to have an epidural and was not mentally prepared to have a natural birth. But, I had no choice at this point. They check me again and I’m 10cm! Hallelujah! The doctor came in just in time and they tell me time to push.

I push for about four attempts. I am shaking, terrified and in so much pain. Camille is at the nurses station while this is going on, so we’re good there. They tell me to push again and it feels like HELL. It was hard to focus on the end goal because the pain was so unbearable. I was so scared. I scream and tell them I cant do it! My husband is trying to encourage me, but again I’m so scared. I was screaming “someone please help me!” I can laugh about it now, but thats how I really felt at the moment. The doctor tells me that his head is almost out so its time to push as hard as I can. I push hard and I feel the “ring of fire” pain that I heard about with natural labor. Its hard to explain, but I felt it. After I give that one big push, I hear “here he is, You did it!!”

I couldn’t even open my eyes to look at him when they pull him out because I was so miserable and upset with how painful everything was. I couldn’t believe that it was actually over! It seemed like there wasn’t going to be an end to the labor. But, of course it was! They hand him to me and I finally  look down to the cutest little baby boy I ever did see!

Xavier Drew Green, 5 pounds 5 oz, born June 25th at 3:12am. I started contractions June 24th, 11:30pm and he arrived June 25th 3:12 a.m. A very quick labor! He’s absolutely perfect! Xavier Drew is already at 8 pounds as of his 5 week appointment this past week. I love this little man so much!

Are there plans for any more children in the future?

This is the last child for Eric and I. I am so thankful that God has blessed us with two, beautiful children. After this labor, all I have to say is, women we rock!! The things are bodies can do such as bring life into this world is absolutely amazing!! I am glad I was able to experience the gift of having children. Now the goal is to raise God fearing, intelligent and responsible children in the world we live in today. Please pray for my husband and I as we do just that!

Hello Loves!

I remember being pregnant with Camille, I  wanted the perfect, stylish diaper bag. Especially with having a girl! I just imagined myself walking through the mall or park with my baby in my stroller and my super cute diaper bag in arm. Ha! I can look back at that now and laugh. After I had Camille and actually had to utilize a diaper bag, it wasn’t the most functional and easy bag to carry. It was super difficult trying to manage a stroller, squeezing the diaper bag into the basket or hanging it on the stroller. Let’s not even mention the times I was just carrying the car seat and the diaper bag sliding off my arm every five minutes. I hated it! It started to become such a hassle to carry around, I would often times leave it in the car and just grab the essentials.

I recall Eric and I getting ready to take our first airplane trip with Camille as a baby to visit my brother in law in Chicago. She was about four months old. As a new parent, I spent so much time going over every detail making sure I packed what Camille needed for a successful trip.  I made sure to have a baby carrier on hand so I could just baby wear her in the airport while Eric dealt with the car seat, stroller and other things. I did not want to deal with carrying my diaper bag while trying to manage the chaos of travel and baby wearing Camille. While I was out shopping,  I stumbled upon diaper backpacks. I don’t know what rock I was living under, but I knew it had to be easier to travel with a backpack versus a tote bag. You guys, total game changer! From then on, I carried my diaper backpack all the time. Life was much easier!

My diaper backpack I wore at the time has now seen better days. After getting pregnant this second time around, I kept hearing and reading good things about Ju-Ju-Be Diaper Bags. I knew I wanted a versatile bag to carry Xavier’s essentials as well as things for Camille and I too. So many moms were saying they loved the quality of the Ju-Ju-Be bags! They loved how easy it was to keep clean, plenty of pockets and easy access to different compartments. Well, low and behold when I went to check them out, I saw they also offered diaper backpacks. Yay!

What are some of the Ju-Ju-Be Diaper Bag features?

So I am very happy that I was able to partner with Ju-Ju-Be and share with you all their bags. They also offer accessories such as changing pads, pacifier pods, bottle bags, pumping bags & more.  The price point for a diaper backpack is about $155. Another thing I like about the backpacks are the ergonomic backpack straps!  This is perfect for me because I sometimes suffer from back pains. Also, the fabric is made of Teflon, perfect for repelling stains. It also features two exterior insulated pockets to keep bottles warm or cold. Another great feature is that the backpack opens fully out, so you can easily see and access whats in your bag. I love this because sometimes you have to dig and dig to try to find anything thats fallen to the bottom of your backpack. So annoying!

I absolutely love the style that I selected too. Its called the “Be Right Back” Diaper Backpack in the Versailles style. I love the print and color, its really gender neutral in my opinion. Although Eric begs to differ. In fact, he said this backpack reminds him of the “New Kanye.” Lmbo and my argument was that its absolutely not the “New Kanye,” its the “Old Kanye!!” There is a huge difference people!  Lol.

Whats in my diaper bag?

I thought I would also share with you what’s in my diaper bag! This is so helpful for new moms or moms who haven’t had a baby in a while. Even I had to go back and research to see what I should pack in his diaper bag!

  1. Change of clothes: at least 2-3 onesies or sets that baby can change into in the event of spills, blow outs or change of weather.
  2. Pacifier: For me, I love the Wubba Nubba paci! It comes with a plush toy animal attached to the pacifier which helps to easily find paci and also baby can easily grab themselves. I swear by this paci because we were always able to keep track of it and it never rolled off anywhere.
  3.  Ziplock bags/trash bags: you know, in case of a tragic blow out!
  4. Diapers
  5. Burp Cloths: about 2-3
  6. Nursing Cover
  7. Changing Pad: I like the Ju-Ju-Be one as its memory foam and I also throw in a few disposable changing pads too!
  8. Socks
  9. Disposable Tee-Pees: I am having a boy and I don’t want to get squirted on!
  10. Baby Wipes
  11. Anti Bacterial wipes and spray: to wipe down those gross changing tables in bathrooms and a travel size antibacterial spray to sanitize it!
  12. Muslin Swaddle Blankets or Receiving Blankets

I hope this post was helpful. If you are not expecting, but know of a mom to be who is, send them this blog post! I am sure they would love to check out the Ju-Ju-Be products and also get an idea of what to pack in their little one diaper bag! Not to mention this bag would make a great baby shower gift too!

Hey There!

I’m so excited to finally share the nursery reveal of my little man! Xavier Drew is his name to be exact!  The room is such a dramatic transformation in my opinion because it was once Camille’s room. So there was pink and white everywhere! Especially, the walls! I knew the walls would have to be the first thing done in order to makeover the room for Xavier’s arrival.

As always, I went to my local Sherwin Williams to pick out some paint strips to get this party started! My entire home is painted in Sherwin William’s paint. Since we moved in about six years ago, we painted majority of our home with Sherwin Williams. So I was so happy to partner with Sherwin Williams for Xavier’s nursery reveal! I knew they offered quality paint I could trust would be safe and non toxic for his room. We selected “Eider White” from their “Harmony” Interior Acrylic Latex Paint collection. Harmony Interior Acrylic Latex line contains new technology that helps improve indoor air quality by reducing VOC levels from your carpet, cabinets and fabrics. It also allows you to wash your walls and maintain a durable finish which makes it perfect for children and pets!

Let’s Check Out the Before!!

As you can see, everything was quite girly of course! I knew I wanted to maintain the same layout that we had with furniture in Camille’s old room. This room has a lot of angled walls, so furniture layout is already limited. The only thing this room really needed was some paint, crib and a dresser! But, it was really hard for me to see this space transformed from a super girly pink room into a “boy nursery” for Xavier. Oh, excuse the mess in Camille’s room. I was in the process of getting rid of a lot of her old stuff too! Its been crazy in the Green household as you can see!

Before: Room is also painted in Sherwin Williams color but I don’t know the shade.

The After: Xavier Drew’s Little Man Cave!

How do you like the wall color? The “Eider White” paint is not pure white, it has a gray undertone to it which we usually lean towards when it comes to home decor and paint. This room gets a lot of light during the morning time, but usually is more shaded around noon and the rest of the day. The color of the paint shown in the pics should give you a good indication of what to expect. But, just know this paint color will definitely depend upon how much light comes into the room. You can have a light gray one moment and a subtle white the next! I really do like the color as it lightens and brightens up the room. Now I can’t even remember the room being pink!

You guys, I love his room so much! It took us a while to wrap up this room because I just could not find what I was looking for. Majority of the nursery decor I found for boys are Animal themed, Nautical, Woodland etc. It just did not move me and I knew I didn’t want that kind of theme for his room. Let me tell you, this room literally came together about two weeks ago!

We ordered the crib a few months back, but I did not know what dresser to choose as his crib is a light gray shade. I knew I wanted to go with the Ikea Hemnes 8 drawer dresser as its so affordable. We loved using it as a changing table too when Camille was a baby. I also didn’t want his entire nursery to be gray, so I went back and forth on the decision to get the Ikea Hemnes dresser in gray too. I’m so glad we did, it really jump started the color scheme in the room which was to bring in navy. Eric wanted navy in his room, but I just didn’t see it. But, I knew we needed a darker shade to balance out all of the gray.  But, once I found the navy curtains, I was finally inspired on how to decorate the room!

I also spray painted the white bookshelves navy and the white bookends an antique copper shade too. I wanted to warm up the wall space as well. His gallery wall definitely gives me all the feels. We were finally able to complete it this week as that was the last design element in the room. It definitely brings the entire room together. I feel as though his room is slightly rustic with a bit of a industrial feel to it. It definitely gives me “Little Man Cave” vibes. What do you think?

Have you tried Sherwin Williams paint?

Its a brand I have used for years for all of my paint projects. I definitely recommend you try it if you have not already!

Happy belated Mother’s Day to all of you mommy’s out there!

Mother’s Day is usually a weekend of reflection for me. Mainly because my mother passed away several years ago, so its always a difficult time to take in, accept even. For some of us, we don’t have the gift of taking our mom’s out for brunch, or snapping pictures showing how much we love and appreciate our mothers. We only have the memories that we hold on tight to daily and try to push through the day as much as we can. I always encourage anyone as often as I can to tell their mother they love them. It’s the absolute worst thing in life to lose your mom. What you don’t want is there to be any words left unsaid. I know that sometimes there is strife or wrong doing that some folks have suffered from their mother or you may have to love them from afar. But, if you can just drop those three little words in when you can, you’re giving yourself a gift!! Just in knowing that your mom knew how much you loved her, no matter what!

What has saved me from most of the pain of no longer having my mother here on earth, is having Camille. Being a mother is the best thing that has ever happened to me. Period! Its saved me in a lot of ways! I often doubted why God would take my mother away, why me? When Eric and I was trying for a child, it was not easy! We went through some difficulty and I questioned my faith in God. I grew up in church all my life and I knew that I had to hold on to my faith as tight as I could. Because if I let go…….!!! That little bit of mustard seed faith I had in wanting a child was just enough.  I became pregnant and was blessed with Camille! It showed me that God was listening! He heard my cries and my prayers!! Going forward, I saw that He never left me alone. He was right by my side and saw the desires of my heart! You guys can clearly see that she is my greatest gift from God, I’ll never take it for granted!!

Motherhood can be amazing, exhausting, scary and thrilling all wrapped up into one. Often times I wonder, am I a good mother? Did I lose my temper too quick? Am I not patient enough? Did I scold her instead of talking to her about what she did wrong? Am I spoiling her too much? We have a lot of fears as mothers, after all we don’t want to screw up the most important job in the world!

In today’s world filled so full of beauty standards, social media and just straight out racism, I wonder how can I empower my child to stay true to herself? To understand that she is beautiful, strong, intelligent and worthy of everything else she desires? My mom always said, “the world is getting wiser and weaker.” Y’all the “weaker” part scares me! We see it daily! So how do we ensure we impart wisdom and knowledge to our children so they don’t get caught up in the foolishness? I know I am not alone in these thoughts, right?

In a few weeks, my son will make his presence on this earth. My son! Those words are a little scary to me, because I feel like I’m such a girl mom. But, this is another layer of motherhood I will have to experience that I am nervous about. Raising a strong, black man in today’s America is scary! As an African American, its scary times right now! I don’t want my son to be seen as a threat, I want him to be seen as the child of God that he is! My prayer is that God truly gives me the wisdom and knowledge to raise my kids. I want them to break barriers, be educated individuals, make sound and wise decisions. I want them to do better than mommy and daddy. After all, that is the goal for each generation to succeed the prior one right?

What are your thoughts on Motherhood in today’s society?

I know this is not my usual fashion blog post. But, these thoughts have been on my heart for a while. You know how it is, sometimes we just don’t know how to say it or express it. I would love to hear any encouraging words you have regarding motherhood today. As they say it takes a village to raise a child. That’s the kind of positive, strong community we all need to make it through this thing called motherhood!

Y’all I don’t know how some pregnant women do it when it comes to dressing up and wearing heels. I am struggling over here because I do not want to participate at all lol. Its like I crave comfortable clothing like I do food. So weird right? I was the same with Camille. At the time I was working, so I had to look a little put together Monday thru Friday. So what they got from me were some V-neck Target tees and my maternity pants, along with a wedge or a flat. Lol, since I am not working, I can currently be seen in something comfortable like yoga pants and a sweatshirt. Which is why I am so thrilled that athleisure wear is considered stylish and on trend. Praise the Lord!

However, I was still struggling on where to find cute loungewear or sweatsuit sets. One of my blogger boos and friend, Shana, from Brown Girl Stylish suggested I head to TJ Maxx because they had some great athleisure/ lounge wear options. You guys, TJ Maxx and I use to be besties years ago. I was a regular and the layaway was my jam lol. For some reason, I stopped going and let me tell you, I need to add it back to my rotation on where to shop. I found lots of cute athleisure sets, including the one I’m wearing in this pic! This outfit is NOT maternity, but has good stretch and room for me to grow a bit. I can be cute and prego in this set and I’m here for it!

Not only do I crave comfy clothes, but comfy shoes too! I popped over to DSW after I got this set and they had sooooo many cute sneakers. I am not a sneaker girl at all, but honey I had about six pairs I loved that I was trying to narrow down. But, I fell in love with these Nike’s as they are SOOOOOO comfortable and the blush pink was calling my name. It definitely helped that I had a coupon to knock off a couple of bucks too. Don’t you love when that happens?!

Is athleisure wear on your radar when you’re shopping??

I definitely plan to buy a few more pieces to help me along the rest of this pregnancy. Especially if it has me out in these streets looking like I have my life together! Athleisure wear is not just for working out or heading to the gym. Its all about comfortable clothes that can translate from gym to every day activities. I linked a few options I found online. But, if you love what I’m wearing, head to your nearest TJ Maxx and take a look!

You guys, I am so excited (and relieved) to finally share with you the gender reveal of our little blessing!! These past few weeks have been rough. Pregnancy is wearing me down and honestly, I just didn’t have the will to plan anything elaborate with this gender reveal. I had the flu over a week ago and it really wore me out. This past week I am trying to return back to normal and get back in the swing of things. Including blogging! But hey, sometimes we just have to take time out and get our mind and bodies, Amen?!

Anyhoo, I found out the gender of our baby on my birthday, January 15th!! My husband, Eric, was a bundle of nerves as he really wanted a boy. He kind of wanted to be surprised this go around with the gender reveal, but my planner brain will just not allow me to be so spontaneous. I admire those who can go the full nine months without finding out the gender. But, not this girl! I really was hoping for another girl this time around. I mean I have tons of Camille’s clothes from when she was a baby. We barely gotten rid of any of her baby clothes because I wanted baby #2 to wear them again. Not just for convenience, but I simply adored them and wanted to see them on my little one, one more time!

As you can see from the pictures, God has blessed us with a little boy!!! You guys, I have no clue how I am meant to be a boy mom. Everything about me is so girly, I just can’t imagine a little rough and tough little boy. But, I am so excited to meet him and hold him in my arms for the first time. Like I said, Eric really desired a son. Even though I wanted another girl, I am glad that he is getting the son he always wanted. I know he wants to raise a strong, intelligent man and continue the Green name. So yes, we have one of each! Its so crazy, I am still pinching myself that I am even pregnant with number two and that its a boy! 2017 was such a tough year for us, but 2018 is already starting off great!

Do we have a name picked out?

We are still deciding on a name and have it narrowed down to 3. I won’t even bother telling you now the name choices, because it took us forever with nailing down Camille’s name lol. So keep us lifted on figuring his name out! Camille does feel strongly about one name so it seems like we are leaning towards that direction. We shall see!

Hi there, I’m baaaack!!!

I’ve been a way for quite a while now and it was a welcomed break. I just needed some time to step away from the blog and come back with a renewed mind. But, what better way to jump back in this blog life than the cutest mommy and me graphic tee for those of us blessed with the melanin. Queue Shopsophistishe.com please!

I love supporting small businesses, especially black owned! I have a heart for those who are brave enough to go after their own dream. One day I hope to get my mind together and do the same soon. Anyway, it was a friend of mine who sent me a pic of this tee and said, “Camille needs this!” I fell in love with it immediately and had to have it. I contacted the business owner, Sheena, and told her how much I loved the melanin tee! She was kind enough to send one for Camille and I! So I am proudly sharing this melanin t-shirt with you because you just have to support an amazing small business that encourages us to love the skin we’re in!

Lets teach our little ones to love who they were created to be…

Its so important to instill in our babies the importance of who they are and to love themselves. The world today has its own version of “perfection” that we see all day, every day on social media. I remember my mom instilling in me that I was beautiful, intelligent black girl and to know my worth. My mom bought me black Barbies and dolls because she wanted me to see myself and identify with the beauty God has given us.

I went to a majority white school from 1st grade up until 8th grade and it was HARD. Being a minority in a majority white school was not always rainbows and butterflies. Looking back, I appreciate my mom constantly instilling in me the beauty of being an African-American and always educating me of my history.  This is what I hope to instill in Camille as I raise her, to be a proud and strong black woman!

Thats why I love this melanin t-shirt, not only is it cute, but it also shares the importance of loving yourself. Camille absolutely loves this t-shirt. She’s worn it a few times already and even asks if she can sleep in it lol. We had such a fun doing this shoot as its been a while since our last one (click HERE to see it).

So definitely head to Sheena’s site, https://shopsophistishe.com and grab your melanin t-shirt ASAP!!

Because…

“I am dripping Melanin and honey. I am black without apology.”

-Upile

Camille loved it, she ate the whole thing!

Mothers Day gifts are something that should feel thoughtful and special to the one you love. I remember my first Mother’s Day a little after Camille was born about two years ago. Her father bought me a sweet charm bracelet and held Camille in his arms as she held the bag. It was the sweetest thing ever and of course I cried. Thoughtful gifts always come from the heart and thats the best feeling ever!

Mother’s Day is around the corner. Have you thought of Mothers Day gifts yet? Well, I have a great gift idea to share with you today. As you can see, my little and I are in the kitchen in this post cooking breakfast. Stuffed French Toast to be exact (click HERE for the Recipe)! Camille loves to help mommy in the kitchen. Every weekend we typically cook pancakes together, well we used to as she was on a pancake kick for a minute! Its always a pleasure to have my little helper in the kitchen and get a little messy with I must say. Which really made me think about getting us aprons, so we could get messy in the kitchen and not on ourselves for once!

So I was super excited to partner with Belle Eve Clothing on making us “Mommy and Me” aprons! They have quite a few options for “mommy and me” aprons or just Mommy or whoever! Our aprons came out perfect! The aprons are made out of cotton canvas and has a detachable bow (Camille’s came with one too, but I discovered it in her toy box after the shoot lol). When I showed the aprons to Camille she got VERY excited. One of her favorite books, “Billie B. Brown Bakery Adventure” shows the character and her friends at school, baking in the “bakery.” As soon as she saw the apron, she called it “my bakery” and put it on immediately. Lol. I had to plead with her to take it off. Toddlers I tell ya!

Belle Eve Clothing is a great Mothers Day gift option!

I hope that you’ve enjoyed this post and check out the Stuffed French Toast recipe. I found it on Pinterest. It was very easy to make and tasted delish! You can use any fruit you like and really make it your own. They are perfect to just grab and go, you dont even need syrup. They are sweet enough on their own!

Shout out to all the food bloggers out there, I was exhausted after this shoot. I don’t know how you guys do it cooking and taking pics at the same darn time. Well, I did have a toddler that I had to keep interested, but still. Hats off to you! Oh and thanks to my hubby who became Instagram husband for this shoot and putting up with my critiques of his picture taking abilities lol.

Be sure to check out Belle Eve’s line of aprons. I am sure you will find a perfect Mothers Day gift for the special lady in your life!

Valentine’s Day is on the horizon and in order for me to feel full of love to give, I have to first show love to myself! Self care is SOOO important! Most times as a mom, I am giving to my child so much that I feel like I have nothing left to give to myself or others. But, in order for me to be my best self, I HAVE to have some me time. I know there are other moms out there feeling the same. So I reached out to my fellow blogger moms to see if they wanted to get together for a mommy spa day of getting pampered, relaxation and chit chat. After I received a “YES!” from them both (lol) I knew just where to go for our mommy spa day. My friend Kameisha Getum is the owner of Spa Lala in Dallas. She is also a mom, wife and business owner so she totally was on board with us getting a few treatments to be our best selves.

So let me tell you why you need to book an appointment at Spa Lala. Its a lovely spa suite so the setting is quite intimate, yet tranquil. Its very clean and welcomes a serene spa atmosphere. I received the dermaplaning facial, Eryn received a brow wax and tint by the on staff esthetician Camille. Taryn received lash extensions by Kameisha. I never heard of derma planing before which is basically where they use a small scalpel to remove the fine hairs from the face to create a smoother canvas for the skin. Camille advised me of the fab benefits which are brightening of the skin and reducing hyper pigmentation. I have normal to dry skin, so I don’t have many skin issues except this darn blemish from a pimple I decided to pop (I know, I know). However, the results from the facial were instant. My skin was brighter and smoother. When I applied my makeup later that day, my skin was even more FLAW-LESS! lol. We were all very pleased with the results of our services. Not only that, but the education and tidbits we learned by Kameisha and Camille regarding the services we received and how to maintain it were great too!

I want to focus this year on supporting more small businesses, especially black owned! I think its important that we keep those with the entrepreneur spirit in mind when it comes to our dollars. Spa Lala Dallas is the perfect place to support and get pampered too! Head to Taryn’s blog, Glamorous Versatility to see her thoughts and results of her eyelash extension and to Eryn’s blog, Style Sew Me, to see her brow tint/ wax!!

If you are in Dallas, be sure to make an appointment and mention that you heard about Spa Lala on our blogs. Kameisha, the owner of Spa Lala, is generously offering 20% off a full set of eyelash extensions, as well as, 20% off any facial service. Don’t say I never did nothing for ya!

Have a fabulous weekend! I’ll be headed to New York for my very first Fashion Week! Follow me on Instagram for all the tea and fashion!!
