Thanksgiving is around the corner you guys. My Thanksgiving table decor is all done!! I may be a little late sharing my Thanksgiving table decor and dining room reveal with you all, my apologies, but I had a difficult time pulling it all together. I wasn’t even going to do anything special with my dining room table this year for Thanksgiving. I’m more of a go all out for Christmas kind of girl. But, a friend of mine started talking about decorating her home for the holidays and it got my juices flowing. I headed to Pinterest and got inspired on all of the pretty holiday table settings. So naturally I had to plan and execute of course.

If you follow me on Instagram, then you have been updated on some of the Thanksgiving table decor items I was purchasing over the past few weeks. I saw these “Thankful, Grateful, Blessed” plates at Hobby Lobby before Halloween and fell in love. At the time they were $19.99 with 40% off. Now we all know Hobby Lobby has that good 50% off deal that happens all the time. So I patiently waited until after Halloween to purchase these because I knew they were going to mark them at 50% off. I went last week and found the LAST SIX PLATES!! I tell ya, what God has for me, it is for me lol!! All for 50% off too. Score!

I ran across this navy, velvet table runner by Tahari at Homegoods and loved it for my Thanksgiving table decor. It adds a richness and uniqueness to the table as its not your typical “Thanksgiving” color. I knew paired with gold and jewel tone table decor that it would look perfect against the dark wood of my dining room table. Now, I am not a fake flower kind of girl. I adore fresh, but I realized that I do not keep up with fresh flowers as I should. I end up wasting money because I forget to change the water or snip the ends. Let’s blame it on doing life with a toddler shall we? Hobby Lobby also had 50% off on florals a while back, so I gathered these rich tone floral stems to compliment the dining room. I think the faux flowers work just fine, don’t you!?

How do you like my gallery wall? My husband and I created our gallery wall when I was pregnant with Camille, about three years ago. Mind you, we had already lived in our home for about 3 years already. Sometimes, it just takes a while to get those things done on your wish list. I can’t really guide you on how we went about planning and executing this gallery wall. Just know I recall it taking a lot of planning in terms of what pictures we wanted to use, selecting the size of the pictures to go along with the frame, spacing and getting all of this on the wall. My advice to you is allow yourself plenty of time and patience, research tutorials and don’t nail anything on the wall until you are finally sure! Lol!

But, most importantly, what does Thanksgiving mean to me?

Thanksgiving is a time to be thankful for all of the wonderful things we have been blessed with in life. Family, friends, health and so much more! I like to reflect on all of the things that I have been blessed with and won’t ever take for granted. 2017 has been a rough year for my family, but through it all we are here persevering, leaning and holding on to our faith! Therefore, not only are these plates a beautiful statement piece on the dining room table, but exactly how I feel every day when I wake up!

I’ve always been a book worm ever since I was a child. I guess when you are an only child, you have to do something to keep yourself occupied. I’ve been wanting to do a post about book recommendations for the longest. I thought it would be fun to do one each season and share what my reads are. I don’t know about you, but I love reading stories that are based in the current season that I am in. Its something about it that makes it more real and familiar. Especially fall and winter, its when I crave reading even more! I love being curled up on the couch with a cozy blanket or a roaring fire with a hot drink! Or even at a cafe with a cup of coffee or in my car with the window down to catch the crisp breeze. Am I making you want to pick up a book yet?!

I love fiction books! I feel like I can use my imagination to dream up the characters, the setting, and the moments that are occurring in the story. You really won’t see me with a self help, autobiography or anything like that. I adore light reads that helps me to relax and unwind. Even a good mystery novel will do it for me! Anyhow, I am excited to share my favorite winter fiction book recommendations with you. I’ll give a brief synopsis of 5 of the books shown in the picture, otherwise this will be an extremely lengthy post. I have also linked all of the books for you below so you can order them.  So lets get to it!

1. Delicious by Ruth Reichl

This book right here, A-MAAAZZINNG! I am reading it again for the second time and honestly I might read it AGAIN! It’s a beautifully written book about a girl named Billy who has moved to New York,  away from her family in California, especially her big sister, to interview for a job at a legendary food magazine called “Delicious!” Billy has an impeccable palette, however, she does not cook and has no intentions of doing so. But, has an interest in food and writing! She goes on her interview and is offered the job after a series of tests. While working, she discovers a mystery in the library of the building. I don’t want to give too much of this book away, but you MUST read it! The storytelling, characters and the mystery that is involved is just amazing to read. Not to mention, the way she speaks about food makes me want to catch a flight to New York and find these places she goes to! You know its good when its recommended by Oprah as well! This book is just a pure joy to read and will always be #1 in terms of my  fiction recommendations!

2. The Gift of a Charm by Melissa Hill

When I finished reading this book I just gave a loud sigh. It was just perfect! I hated that it was over! The character is Holly O’Neill and the story is set during winter time in New York. Holly owns a charm bracelet that was given to her in her childhood. So its very special to her!! Holly works at a vintage consignment shop and one day found a charm bracelet in pocket of a coat that was sent to the store to sell. So she goes on a search for the owner and the story begins to unfold! The ending to this book is such a surprise and will have you shocked. Perfect, just perfect!

3. A Gift from Tiffany’s by Melissa Hill

So this book is the first one I read from author, Melissa Hill. I enjoyed it so much that I went to the store and bought “The Gift of a Charm” and “A Gift to Remember.” Melissa Hill does an amazing job of making you feel you are right there watching the story unfold. The way she links all of these loose ends is just amazing to read! This story is set in New York at Christmas Time (apparently I love New York based stories, cant you tell?) with the main character Ethan Greene. Now, I typically don’t read fiction based on the male because I don’t feel as connected. But, this one just warmed my heart after the first chapter! Ethan and his daughter are visiting New York from London during Christmas time with his girlfriend, Vanessa. Ethan has plans of proposing to Vanessa while they are there in New York, as of course its the most wonderful time of the year! Well, Ethan purchases the ring at Tiffany’s and as he and his daughter leave the building, an accident occurs changing everything!

4. Accused: A Rosato & Dinunzio Novel by Lisa Scottoline

Oh how I love a good mystery novel. I have about ten of Lisa Scottoline mystery/crime novels and I am never disappointed. I enjoy reading mystery novels in the fall and winter season too. I guess it just makes it all the more mysterious? I don’t know lol. This story is based on Mary Dinunzio, an attorney at an all female law firm in Philadelphia. She just made partner, getting engaged and life is good! That is until she takes on her youngest client, Allegra, a 13 year old girl who believes that the man who was accused of killing her older sister is innocent! Mary takes on the case and girl, its just gets good! If you like mystery novels like me, try Lisa Scottoline line of mystery books. So good and I am over here playing detective too lol!

5.  A Gift to Remember by Melissa Hill

Ok, back to Melissa Hill because I just love her books! Another goodie set in NYC during Christmas time! Darcy is a book lover who works at a small bookstore. She heads to work on her bike one day and literally runs her bike into this man walking his dog on the street. The man is knocked out cold! He is taken to the hospital and the dog is left on the street. Of course she feels terrible, so she takes the dog and tries to return it to its owner. Unfortunately, the stranger lost his memory from the accident. So Darcy keeps the dog while the man is recovering in the hospital. She begins her search as to who this man is so that his family can find him and she can return the dog. Along the way, she gets a little smitten with this “stranger” and wonders if he is the man for her! This is just a wonderful read and I could not predict the ending.

Ok, my fingers are tired! LOL. I’ve linked all the books below to my favorite winter fiction book recommendations. I would love for you all to get these books and let me know your thoughts! I hope you enjoyed this post. Be sure to look out come Spring for my next book recommendations. I think this will be such a fun series! I cant wait to share more!
