Happy Friday Eve!! Yes, even though this was a three day weekend I am still looking forward to Friday. It was such a busy time for me and went by so quickly. I plan to sit back, relax this upcoming weekend and GET MY LIFE! 🙂

I am loving today’s outfit post because it’s such an unusual color combination that works! Now, I can’t take credit for putting together this color combo. I saw it on Pinterest by one of my FAVORITE blogger’s, Atlantic- Pacific, who can do no wrong fashion wise by the way. I saw it and thought I could totally make that color combo my own! You gotta love Pinterest for the inspiration, are you following me there by the way?

I already snagged this gorgeous red jacket from Zara’s summer sale and scored a mint blouse from Express, so I knew I just needed red shoes to complete the look. Steve Madden, Steve Madden!! You have my heart this year!! So many cute shoes that my wish list keeps growing! I am also wearing one of my favorite bags. This is one item I am SO happy I purchased! It truly is the cutest bucket bag out there!!

Hello everyone! I know its been a minute since I’ve last blogged. But, the little one had a fever last week so I was home with her for a few days. I was super tired and didn’t have much energy to do anything. Hopefully, you’re following me on Instagram! I’ve been posting a few things there so you can get your shopping/ outfit post fix from there.

I CANNOT wait for Fall! I really don’t think you understand! With living in Dallas, the heat is ridiculous and I just want it to go away…NOW! I am so ready for fall which brings me to these gorgeous “Over the Knee” boots above. I’ve loved the Stuart Weitzman “Highland” (far left) boot for a long time. I just didn’t want to pay the price for them. At $798, it’s quite an investment piece and just was not in the cards for me. Last year the Sam Edelman “Kayla” (center) OTK boots-currently $189, were all the rage and I missed out on purchasing them. They look almost the same as the Highland boot and I kept delaying buying them. Imagine my delight when I was at the Steve Madden store a few weeks ago and saw these babies (far right)! They are appropriately named “GORGEOUS” and they look and feel amazing. They are on my “MUST HAVE” list for fall and for $150 I suggest they are on yours as well.

Mommy and Me: Tulle Skirt Beauties!!

Happy Sunday loves!! It’s been quite a weekend for me. Hubby and I had some free time yesterday afternoon while Camille went shopping with her Nana. So we were out and about running errands and grabbing lunch. Lesson learned, when the little one is gone for a few hours, pick one or two things to do then go home and take a nap!!! Lol. We were so tired by the time we got home we only had a hour to relax before she got back and start her bedtime routine. There is no rest when you are a parent until bedtime!! It’s like your body can finally say, RELAX!! I typically crash on the couch and watch tv. It’s the little things!

Last week I blogged about “How to Take ‘PERFECT’ Family Pictures” and wore this outfit. My daughter wore a blush pink tulle skirt and I wanted to compliment her outfit in some way. I went on the hunt for this beauty I had on. It was perfect!! A beautiful shade of pink (its more rose tone in person), lightweight for the Texas heat and a maxi skirt!!! I paired it with the off the shoulder top to give a romantic, rustic look to it. Now, for some strange reason I brought with me nude pumps to wear. I don’t know why I thought that was a good choice. But, where we shot the pictures was in a nature park area (i.e. uneven, rocky, dirt ground). So I don’t know what gave me that bright idea. I do know that I was glad I brought along my trusty gold flats to walk around in and they worked perfectly for the shoot!

I am so happy with how this family/blog shoot turned out! My angel is now one years old (yes, I cried like a baby)!!

Hi Friends! It’s been a crazy two weeks for me. My little one Camille turned one last week and her birthday celebration was this past weekend. I am sorry I have not been in touch for a bit.

I hope you enjoyed my most recent post on “How to Take ‘Perfect’ Family Pictures”. I ask that you share it with friends and family because I think its important to really understand how moments like those are already made perfect! So often, we get caught up in the right pose, is everyone smiling, basically is everything picture perfect? There is no need to strive for perfection when your family is all together as one. How blessed are we for that reason, right?!

This is a short post, I will have another for you Sunday where I provide more deets and photos as to what I wore in our family pics. I hope you have a fabulous weekend!

Hello Everyone! Welcome to my blog! If you’ve hopped on over from the Link up I am so glad to have you here!! I hope my blog inspires you to follow me along for some fashion and style fun. This post I decided to get a little personal and share my precious family with you all. We recently took family pictures for my daughter, Camille first birthday and of course, the occasion had to be properly photographed and documented! The energy placed into family pictures is unreal. From outfit planning, to props, time of day, the best photographer and in our case, nap time is crucial!!

Therefore, I decided to put together a little post on “How to take ‘Perfect’ Family Photos.” Let’s face it, when you imagine taking family pictures, you picture: perfect weather, a beautiful setting, and smiles from everyone. But, that is not always the case, especially when you have a little one! Camille did pretty well in terms of no melt down or tears, but keeping her attention was hard. With having a child, you quickly learn to just adapt to the situation and make the most of it. We still got gorgeous shots that were candid, true to our personalities and not perfectly posed. Which prompted me to write this post. Great family pictures are about capturing true moments that are real and timeless. It’s about showing the love within the family and having a little fun.

So here are my personal tips on taking “perfect” photos:

1) choose an amazing photographer: having someone who is patient, does quality work and customer service is key! We definitely trusted our photographer opinion which helped a ton. I would also suggest to ask about their turn around time so that you have your images back within your timeframe. You may want to ask about having rights to the pictures so you can print as you please too!

2) choose comfortable clothing that coordinates with everyone: this makes the process of taking pictures a lot easier if everyone is comfortable with what they’re wearing. For our pictures, I knew in this Texas heat that keeping cool would be super important. So we shot at 8am and made sure to wear breathable, cool clothing that we wouldn’t be super hot in. It definitely helped! Our outfits for the pictures was built around Camille’s blush pink tulle skirt. I wore a tulle maxi skirt that complimented Camille’s outfit as well and it was super light so I felt comfortable. I brought a pair of pumps as well, why? I have no clue. The gold sandals worked out perfectly for the type of ground we were walking on. So always keep in mind the theme of your pictures, location, weather and time of your shoot to make sure everyone is comfortable as possible.

3) location, location, location!!: I would suggest telling your photographer the look and feel you are going for. They can recommend good locations to shoot that you may love. I definitely felt that our location added beauty to the pictures and suited the theme perfectly.

4) Be yourself!: as a fashion blogger, I am quite use to being in front of the camera. There are always different shots you are trying to achieve for your blog. But, doing a family photo shoot was such a relief. We just interacted as a family naturally and let our photographer capture those moments. I preferred this than a bunch of “posed” studio shots. You can clearly see Camille is doing her own thing in her pictures while mommy and daddy are laughing and smiling at her. Thats us in every day life with Camille. The pictures capture that and I love it! It’s not about perfection in pictures, its about having someone document the beautiful moments in your life that you can reflect on. Camille did get quite excited when her daddy gave her his wallet, uh oh!!

5) embrace the moment- the “perfect” family photo has already been achieved! Gathering as a unit is as perfect as it gets. Embrace those moments! Be in the moment! Let whatever happens, happen! As you can see, Camille’s smash cake toppled over into the shoot. I could’ve dwelled on that, but I figured it makes for great pictures and we can always look back and laugh on how everything does not go as planned. That is perfectly ok! Her smile and reaction was priceless and those are the moments I cherish.

I hope this post has inspired you! In having a child, I try to be in the moment and not take time for granted. I hope you take that away with you and enjoy your family pictures for years to come!

Lady in Red Jumpsuit

I am not usually one for wearing red. I just never lean towards it. I like to incorporate red into my wardrobe with my shoes and purses. I do know, that when I saw this red jumpsuit, the song came to mind “Laaadyyy in Reeddd” lol. I’ve been wanting another jumpsuit, after wearing a few this summer, (check previous blog posts here and here) and I wanted another one to incorporate into my fall wardrobe. If it wasn’t so darn hot out, I would’ve worn a beautiful jacket (like this or this one) with this jumpsuit to tie this look together. But, nobody had time to be hot at a blog shoot so I wore it sans jacket. But, I think it still works! What do you think?

I know you’re wondering about the shoes, because lets face it, they’re EVERYTHING! I bought these during Zara’s summer sale, so sadly they are sold out. Dont worry, I will link some nice alternatives for you, so not all is lost!

I CANNOT wait for fall! It is my favorite time of the year. The crisp air, leaves falling, Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte’s in hand and a fall jacket keeping me layered and stylish. Fringe is all the rage and if you’ve followed me for a while, you already know I’m here for it. I’ve put together a few fringe jackets under $200 for you to take a look at and consider adding to your must have list. I have a fringe leather jacket I purchased earlier this year that I cannot wait to wear and post on the blog. How do you feel about fringe? I believe its a current trend, but I would wear it whenever and however I wanted. Don’t worry about it being too trendy, its definitely a staple here to stay!

Make Me Brunch -But, no really!

I don’t know about where you live, but here in Dallas we are serious about our brunch!!! I absolutely love to eat, that coupled with a yummy mimosa and I am down! When I saw this tee at Kohls I knew I had to have it for my brunch attire. For a casual brunch, I like to keep the look easy but make the look a little special with accessories or shoes. I think this outfit definitely fits the bill. A comfy t-shirt and boyfriend jeans to hide all of the pancake, crepe or french toast goodness that I consume. The cute wedges makes me look like my life is together and that I still got it even as a mommy lol. A few of my favorite brunch spots in Dallas are Breadwinners, Whiskey Cake, Del Frisco Grill and Smoke. Definitely check those places out if you’re ever in my neck of the woods!

That Moment You Find a Great Fitting Romper!

That moment when you find the most comfortable, great fitting romper? Yes, its not too many moments like those when it comes to a romper. But, this right here?! Pretty much greatness. The material, feel and fit is wonderful. This romper can be worn just about anywhere. I, of course had to dress it up with pumps and a statement bag. But, this can be worn casually with a great pair of flat sandals and cross body bag if you choose. This is another ASOS find. I’ve been on an ASOS kick lately, I don’t know if its because of blogging and wanting to find unique pieces to add to my wardrobe or the 2 day shipping (ASOS Premier membership). But, I’ve been a fan! The only downside is that I do have a few pieces where I’ve had to buy multiple sizes and have yet to return via mail. So look for those to be sold on my Instagram!

Anyhoo, back to this romper!!!You have to get it and for $30 its well worth it! It has a level of chicness to it which I love and makes me feel put together as well. Be sure to check out this great find and add to your summer wardrobe!
