Happy New Year!

You’ve probably seen this color block coat around for a while now. I surely have! But, I saw it pop up on my Instagram feed not too long ago and here we are. I now own one! And its a keeper! You guys know my love for coats, so this truly is no surprise to you that I have, yet another one. I really like how I can wear head to toe black and look like I did something to myself with this coat on. Because lets face it, thats kind of what I had on underneath this coat in these pics. And well, its a look! lol.

This color block coat has been around for some years now. Just about every blogger I follow had one when it first came out. So naturally, I didn’t want to participate in getting something EVERYBODY and they mama was wearing. Now that its popularity has died down some, I decided I would go ahead and get in on the action. Are you like that too? When everybody is wearing it, you want no parts of it. But, once the craze is over, you’re here for it?! Well, thats me! I don’t believe anything really goes out of style. Not if you take it and make it work for you. If you want to wear a darn skant (the skirt over pants craze in the 90s) and you can make it look GOOD in 2018?! Girl! That simply tells me you have true style and make things work for you, not everyone else!

Happy New Year!

I wish I had a New Year Eve “word” for you today, but it hasn’t hit me yet. I’m gonna take some more time over the next few days to figure out what is on my heart and mind to deliver it to you. Sometimes I have a motivational or from the heart blog post for you guys and sometimes I don’t. But, life is like that you know. I rather share whats really on my heart then fake it for you. Understand?! Good!

Chat with you soon!

Hey Loves!

Let me fill you in on something. I LOVE coats! I really do! Outerwear is one of my top clothing pieces that I love to wear. Even though I live in Texas, it does get cold enough to have a nice coat on hand for those Winter days where a little jacket just won’t do. I really love coats with a nice print, such as this plaid coat that I got recently from Shein! When I saw this beauty in the black and white, I just HAD to have it!

It was super cold the day we shot this look, about 40 degrees that morning. I will say, this is NOT a heavy coat. Its more like a heavy weight duster or cardigan. So you must make sure to dress warm underneath. I don’t want you to think that all you need is this coat and you’ll be warm. I would say its perfect for 50-60 degree weather if you wear light clothing underneath. Nevertheless, its very comfy and stylish plaid coat that hangs beautifully. I loved pairing this plaid coat with orange/red booties to add some color to this simple look.

How was your Christmas?

I hope you all had a very, Merry Christmas. It was great to spend time with family, see Camille open her Christmas presents and eat all the good food. To tell you the truth, my favorite moment on Christmas is after the last guests have left, you change into pajamas and fix that second or third plate and have dessert lol. Its nothing like popping off that bra and getting into those comfy clothes and being able to fully relax. Am I right?

I don’t know about you but Christmas snuck up on me this year! Before I knew it, it was time for the craziness of taking Christmas pictures, school events, Christmas dinners, shopping and oh yes, Christmas cards! Christmas cards is something that I always wait until the last minute. Sometimes, I don’t even get them out at all. But, Shutterfly came to the rescue! I used Tinyprints last year, which is now obtained by Shutterfly. So still same great personalization options, customer service and even provide rush orders. Whew, because thats what I had to do this go around for sure.

Shutterfly is super easy to use as well. All you do is select what card type you love, upload your pics and use the customization options of your choice to make your cards extra special. You can select if you want a colored envelope and customize the envelopes as well. Envelope liners can be added too to jazz up a plain envelope. My favorite feature is that I can input the addresses to everyone on my list and have them printed on the envelope! OMG, it saves soooo much time to have the addresses already printed on the envelope. I literally just added the liners, stuffed them and sealed them closed. Game changer!

Christmas is basically over, but if you want to start the New Year off with a bang, you can send out Happy New Year cards! I think its a great way to start the new year sharing with your friends and family a positive wish. You can also shop Shutterfly for Birthday Party invites, Wedding invitations, Announcements and more.

Henri Bendel Flat Top Sunglasses on sale $77!!

Ok so let me start off by saying this Zara sequin sleeve jacket is no longer available. I purchased it at Zara’s last sale which was during the summer. Its one of those jackets that you know will cause attention. You will get compliments all day long from fashionistas alike! I wore this to brunch before the shoot and couldn’t take it off, I loved it so much. So before I posted this jacket, I made sure to go to google and search to find similar sequin sleeve jackets like mine. Fortunately I found a few! So don’t be too mad at me, ok?!

I’m a sucker for army green, especially in a jacket. It compliments my skin tone and I am all for it! So I typically always reach for one when I am out shopping. But, what I liked about this one, was that it was not the same as my other 3 olive green jackets lol. This sequin sleeve jacket makes such a statement and uplifts a plain outfit. I mean all I am rocking is my “Boss So Hard” tee (get you one y’all!) and some ripped jeans. You can easily see how this jacket transforms this simple outfit and makes it stand out.

I know I’ve been MIA lately. But, the holiday season has me so busy with preparing for guests, shopping for gifts and trying to get everything in order. But, I do have some looks for you guys coming up soon. So stay tuned!!

Y’all, this Zara dupe bodysuit is a good one! I initially saw this bodysuit on Zara’s website and in store and I adored it. Bodysuits have a way that fits and lays so easily on the body and perfect to wear with jeans or a skirt. This bodysuit retails at Zara for $50! Well, your girl found it on Shein for only $22! Save your coins when you can ladies, save your coins!

I kept it simple and paired it with my favorite pair of flared jeans, layered necklaces and these gorgeous shades from The Impeccable Pig. These shades scream 70s vibe and pretty much set the entire look off! This Zara dupe bodysuit looks like the original version and fits just as nice. You could even layer a fur vest on top of this to take it to the next level. It was warm on the day we shot this look, so I didn’t even bother to pull out my heavy fur vest. But, don’t you love it when you can create a variety of looks just off of one piece? I sure do!

I linked a few  Zara dupe bodysuit that I thought you might love too. I’m contemplating in grabbing them all because its such an easy way to create a simple, stylish look. These days, with the chaos of the holidays, no one has time to spend on trying to create an outfit. With this Zara dupe bodysuit, just put on cute bottoms and go on your merry way!

How do you love this Zara dupe bodysuit?

How would you rock it?

Have you heard of the saying, time is precious? Well, let me tell you, this year I have truly learned and embraced the meaning of that saying. The value of my time is something that I have become fully aware of this year. I am not sure if its just getting older and wiser, or what! But, I’ve started to examine what or who requires the use of my time and who I am willing to give it to. No, I am not being extra. But, it seems like we give so much our time to people or places we want to go and things we want to do and we burn ourselves out. We are exhausted, drained and in need of a recharge because we are trying to do every darn thing. Do you understand what I mean?

I figured out that I sometimes have that fear of missing out. You all know what I am talking about, our days and weekends are packed with all of these activities that we don’t want to miss. I don’t know who I  think I am fooling because half the time I really don’t want to go or be bothered. The day of the event comes around and I am tired from the busy week or just want to hang with my family.

As a blogger, I get invited to quite a few events. Most of these events are during the work week and downtown. Which means I have to coordinate with my husband on him getting home in time from work to be home with Camille and then spend over a hour in traffic during rush hour to attend these events. Then I have to be socialize for a few hours while I am there and then trek back home in the evening.  So I’ve spent my time doing all of this just to leave the house for a few hours and basically show my face. Exhausting to say the least!

In the past few months, I’ve started to examine the value of my time. I don’t know where it came from. But, I felt the need to really figure out what I am trying to do and accomplish when I stretch myself thin. Ultimately, it is up to me to figure out who or what I am going to give my time to.  God is of course number one and I know He deserves way more time from me then I give Him. Also, the most important of course is my family, everything else is truly secondary. I also feel that friendships are deserving of my time because lets face it, sometimes those friendships help keep us sane.  So once we figure out who deserves our time, its easy to figure out who or what does not right?

Not always! This can sometimes be trial and error. Sometimes we don’t realize when we allow people or things to take our precious time away from us. We spend time arguing, hating, comparing and y’all favorite word, being petty with some folk that we should have cut off a long time ago. We put ourselves in situations that often leave us uncomfortable and questioning why did we waste our time here? Girl, this is when the value of your time need to kick in and you start evaluating things a little deeper. We’ve all been there, but I am here to tell you that I am reclaiming my time as Auntie Maxine said!! And guess what, you should too!!

So start taking a closer look on who or what you give your time to. If it requires too much, its time to determine if its worth it. I know I am! I don’t always have to attend every single event that stresses me out before I even get there. Or try to make time for people who don’t make time for me. Now I realize the value of my time is worth something. We have to use our time wisely! Once you see there is value in that, you’ll begin not to take it for granted as we all do!

How do you give your time?

Do you evaluate it closely or find yourself giving your time to everyone?

Thanksgiving is around the corner you guys. My Thanksgiving table decor is all done!! I may be a little late sharing my Thanksgiving table decor and dining room reveal with you all, my apologies, but I had a difficult time pulling it all together. I wasn’t even going to do anything special with my dining room table this year for Thanksgiving. I’m more of a go all out for Christmas kind of girl. But, a friend of mine started talking about decorating her home for the holidays and it got my juices flowing. I headed to Pinterest and got inspired on all of the pretty holiday table settings. So naturally I had to plan and execute of course.

If you follow me on Instagram, then you have been updated on some of the Thanksgiving table decor items I was purchasing over the past few weeks. I saw these “Thankful, Grateful, Blessed” plates at Hobby Lobby before Halloween and fell in love. At the time they were $19.99 with 40% off. Now we all know Hobby Lobby has that good 50% off deal that happens all the time. So I patiently waited until after Halloween to purchase these because I knew they were going to mark them at 50% off. I went last week and found the LAST SIX PLATES!! I tell ya, what God has for me, it is for me lol!! All for 50% off too. Score!

I ran across this navy, velvet table runner by Tahari at Homegoods and loved it for my Thanksgiving table decor. It adds a richness and uniqueness to the table as its not your typical “Thanksgiving” color. I knew paired with gold and jewel tone table decor that it would look perfect against the dark wood of my dining room table. Now, I am not a fake flower kind of girl. I adore fresh, but I realized that I do not keep up with fresh flowers as I should. I end up wasting money because I forget to change the water or snip the ends. Let’s blame it on doing life with a toddler shall we? Hobby Lobby also had 50% off on florals a while back, so I gathered these rich tone floral stems to compliment the dining room. I think the faux flowers work just fine, don’t you!?

How do you like my gallery wall? My husband and I created our gallery wall when I was pregnant with Camille, about three years ago. Mind you, we had already lived in our home for about 3 years already. Sometimes, it just takes a while to get those things done on your wish list. I can’t really guide you on how we went about planning and executing this gallery wall. Just know I recall it taking a lot of planning in terms of what pictures we wanted to use, selecting the size of the pictures to go along with the frame, spacing and getting all of this on the wall. My advice to you is allow yourself plenty of time and patience, research tutorials and don’t nail anything on the wall until you are finally sure! Lol!

But, most importantly, what does Thanksgiving mean to me?

Thanksgiving is a time to be thankful for all of the wonderful things we have been blessed with in life. Family, friends, health and so much more! I like to reflect on all of the things that I have been blessed with and won’t ever take for granted. 2017 has been a rough year for my family, but through it all we are here persevering, leaning and holding on to our faith! Therefore, not only are these plates a beautiful statement piece on the dining room table, but exactly how I feel every day when I wake up!

I often receive emails and DM’s from my followers asking for help with getting help with blogging, partnering with brands and to check out their blogs to give my thoughts and opinions on improvements.  I guess after almost 3 years in the game, I better know a little sumthin’! Not only that, its also flattering that you trust my opinion. You guys respect what I do and see me as someone you can approach to even ask me!! It truly makes me happy that my followers see me in this light.

Today I was working on a “Pitch 101” presentation to go over with a friend of mind who is also a blogger. In the past week or so, I’ve gotten a few emails or messages asking about blogging. It got me to thinking about offering blogger consultation services to those of you who are interested in speaking to me regarding blogging. I truly believe this will be a great benefit for those of you who want to learn more or just go get my feedback.

I will offer different packages for the blogger consultations so that there is something for everyone. From the person who  aspires to start a blog but no clue on where to begin, how to pitch and partner with brands, improving your social media presence to performing a blog audit if you’re already in the game. How does that sound??

I will be working on getting the blogger consultation packages going over the next few weeks. I believe this is going to be a great way for us to grow together in this blogging world. Its no longer the time to operate in fear, but to achieve the things we feel passionate and strongly about! Am I right?!

Are you interested in my blogger consultation service??

Click HERE to review my services and pricing and lets get started! If you have any questions before getting started, I  would love to hear from you via email if you’re interested.  If you are not interested in blogging, share this with a friend who is! If you are a business owner and  want some assistance with Social Media, drop me a line too!

Y’all, Girlfriends was one of my absolute favorite shows back in the day. Joan, Toni, Maya and Lynn were the Girlfriends I wanted in life. Stylish, fun, supportive and always giving the best one liners you could ask for. So when I came across this Girlfriends tee on Instagram, I had to have it!! I know you want one too!!

Toni was my favorite character. My bad, Toni Childs Garret! She was full of one liners, fashions and bomb hair! Yes, we knew she was always doing the most. But, I loved her regardless! Joan was a close second. The one friend thats always there for Toni’s antics, however, her own life was just of a mess too. Her fashion was always on point. I dreamt of one day wearing bad (fierce) suits and clutch bags into the office just like Joan. I always hoped she would find love, even though she always played herself in relationships.

Maya and Lynn were those hilarious friends that told it like it was and had zero filter. Maya, especially!! I thought her tv husband, Darnell, was so fine! But, I was legit happy when they got back together after their divorce. That scene at the church was everything!

Lynn! This child right here was the free spirit we all want to be, but too scared to commit to in life. Yes, she was pretty much a free loader with her fifty degrees. But, we loved her anyway and sometimes you have to love your friends through their craziness.

Next Shipment date is November 7th, order your Girlfriends Tee ASAP!

If you don’t do anything today, make sure you order this graphic tee to add to your collection. Oh, and this pink, midi skirt too!! With the Girlfriends tee and midi skirt combined, you are letting everyone know where your style genius came from!

Hi There!

My girl Melody of Blingaholic88.com had an awesome idea of doing a fall inspired, Dallas blogger shoot entitled “Slaying In The Country!” Fall glam in a country setting is the perfect juxtapose if you ask me. Fall is my absolute favorite season, especially for fashion. So of course, I was so on board to meet with a few local Dallas bloggers to make this happen.

Its hilarious that we all showed up to the shoot in warm wine tones and black. It was not planned at all, trust me! But, isn’t our back drop amazing?! I plan to return back and take a few holiday pictures with the family. We really had a good time at this shoot. I mean, I think us jumping in heels is pretty hilarious in itself. Am I right?

Go Follow these Dallas Bloggers!!

Well, let me introduce you to the lovely ladies in this shoot. Kenya Denise of KenyaDenise.com, Melody of Blingaholic88.com, Brittany of BriDezel.com and Ashly of FoxyVeggies.wordpress.com. Be sure to head to each of these ladies blogs to see their individual pictures from this shoot as well. They are truly the sweetest and I know you will like their content.

Do you have any plans to gather up your best girlfriends and slay in a photo shoot?
