Hey loves!

I’m back at it with another off shoulder piece! This time its the off shoulder denim dress thats receiving my love and affection. I’ve been scouring the internet looking for an off shoulder denim dress and could not find one that I loved. I purchased one at Express, but I wasn’t completely feeling it. So, I decided to check out Zara and they did NOT disappoint me! As soon as I slipped it on, it was love at first sight! The small details in this dress is what makes it so unique and stylish. A few reasons why I fell in love with this dress.. Number one: pockets! Hello–shouldn’t every dress have pockets? I think so! Number 2: it has a short sleeve which allows it to lay nicely when wearing it off OR on your shoulders. Number 3: You can also wear it on the shoulder (which is how I am wearing it), which leads back to point number 2. Its nothing like getting two different looks from one piece!  Lastly, number 4: its super lightweight and comfortable, perfect for spring/ summer weather!

Do you know about My Other Bag? Its an amazing shop that carries recycled, designer inspired tote bags! I stumbled across My Other Bag on Instagram and fell in love with this style called “London- Kiss.” The bags are so cute and multi functional. Hi again! So you want to know how to wear bright colors for spring?  You’ve come to the right place! Now, I’m not the girl that wear super bright colors from head to toe.  I admire those girls who can do that, but its just not my thing. However, I surely love pops of color to bring a colorful vibe to my wardrobe. Its the safe route, but I’m here for it! I think this outfit is a great example on how a sprinkle of color can definitely be a game changer to an otherwise plain outfit. My bold, blue plaid shirt and the vibrant orange of these GORGEOUS mules are pretty much everything! Its just enough color to balance out the crisp white pants too. So here are a few simple tips on how to wear bright colors for spring. Are you ready? Let’s go!

  1. Don’t overthink it: Wearing bright colors can be a little overwhelming for someone who isn’t use to it. So don’t overthink it. Do it to your comfort level so that you can rock your bright colors in confidence!
  2. Check out the color wheel: The color wheel is GREAT tool when you are trying to determine what colors would look great with what. I often times pull it up so that I can get inspired of new color combinations. Its the perfect guide to have on hand when you are uncertain of what can work. I like this one because it gives a variation of shades for each color. USE IT!
  3. Start with shoes and purse: Again, if you are not into all over color, your shoes and handbag is a perfect place to use it! In this outfit, you can see the orange is my pop of color and it works. Your eyes aren’t going all over the place taking in the colors.  Shades like orange, pinks, teals and greens are perfect for a “pop” of color!
  4. Accessorize: There are some gorgeous, bright “spring” accessories out there. I absolutely love using accessories to include color. I’ve made it easy for you and linked some beautiful options for you below. Speaking of , I’m OBSESSED with these!
  5. Makeup and Nail Polish: You probably didn’t consider letting your eyes, lips and nails doing the talking on wearing bright colors. But, you should! I would suggest not going super crazy in this area. But, hey, do you girl! A bold lip, bright eyeliner or colorful mani in pinks, oranges, purples and teals always look amazing and so vibrant for spring. I can’t wait to pull out some teal gel eyeliner and I already have my white mani and pedi (another cute option) right now.

I hope you enjoyed these tips on how to wear bright colors for spring! Are you a fan of bright colors? How do you incorporate it into your wardrobe or look? I’d love to know!

I absolutely love an off the shoulder sweater! But, it doesn’t end there. From off the shoulder tops to dresses, I can’t get enough! Its something about being sexy, but yet understated in letting a little shoulder peep through. With spring finally here, I wanted to get the most wear out of this off the shoulder sweater before it heats up. I simply paired it with my favorite, most comfortable white stretch pants and fringe booties. I am excited to get more wear out of my white pants too. Its like the perfect sign that spring is here! I think this is definitely one of my most favorite looks on the blog. The soft pale tones and my favorite pink lipstick..It’s just something about this look that I just love!

Oh, yes, how do you like my new and improved website?! After a year of blogging, it was time for a fresh new look! I’ve finally moved to an actual website and to WordPress which provides better functionality for myself and my readers. I hope you enjoy the look of the new site. Be sure to tell me what you think!!

I also think this is one of my favorite blog shoots. I fully allowed myself to be silly and have fun with the shoot. And it showed! Its something about doing what you love that shines through. Blogging is not always easy, but when I get my images back from my shoots, I am reminded why I love it so much. Seeing the effort you put into something translate into a photo is really rewarding. I can’t wait to show a fun shoot with you guys I have coming up for my one year Blogiversary.

Are you doing what you love? How do you feel rewarded in your efforts? I’d love to know!!

See you Sunday for my next post!

Hello loves! There is always something quite whimsical and dreamy about wearing tulle. This tulle skirt is no exception! I wore this skirt on the blog quite a while ago (click here) during the hot, Texas summer. Well, let me tell you, it is still perfection for this breezy, cool weather. Its even dreamier as the wind catches the tulle and it creates a little bit of movement! My favorite photo from this shoot is the one above. Gorgeous right?! I keep swooning at it. Also, if you’ve been following me for a while, you guys should know by now that I am crazy about leather! I can’t get enough of it. It’s a consistent go to piece in my wardrobe.I recently purchased this gem of a leather jacket the other week. Its no surprise that I have been wearing it constantly. So I had to put my spin on wearing a tulle skirt by edging it up with this textured, leather jacket. I think the whole look is quite perfect for date night, church or any event.
How do you feel about tulle skirts? Do you like them or nah?!

Hello again! Don’t you love stylish, affordable pieces that looks like you paid so much more (raises hand)?? Well, I sure do! I stumbled across this gem of a jacket a month or so ago. A lightweight, BLUSH PINK leather jacket for under $100?! That is a huge steal!! As soon as I saw it, I knew I had to have it. As you can see, I’ve worn it in a previous look on my blog and its perfect for layering. This jacket is very lightweight. So it won’t keep you very warm when there is a brisk chill in the air. It is, however, amazing for the spring! You could wear it with boyfriend jeans, skirts or floral dresses. It creates the perfect finishing piece to whatever outfit you desire. Here, I donned it with a leather pencil skirt and heels for a more dressy occasion.

What have been your style steals so far for spring??

Hey Loves! I’m glad to have you stop by the blog today. After three attempts of my laptop shutting down on me, I sure hope you enjoy this post! I’m back wearing this adorable olive green bomber jacket again. I always reach for it when I head out the house. Its great finding those “trendy” yet practical pieces to incorporate in your wardrobe. I have a feeling this bomber jacket will be worn plenty, trend or not! I’m also wearing my favorite leather jogger pants. These pants are one of my go to’s. For $15, you better get you a pair NOW!! Its nothing like comfy pants (drawstring waist anyone?) you can wear day or night and feel like a fashionista!! I’m also loving my sunglasses. Target always gets me in the accessory aisle. These “cat eye” sunglasses are no exception and I am happy to add them to my collection.
A few weeks back, I wrote a blog post called “Twenty Things You Don’t Know About Me” and I spoke on how cautious I am with friendships. I wanted to touch base on this a little bit. I’m 34 years old and I have had a few experiences on failed friendships. One: my best friend that I had known since high school, decided that she no longer wanted to be my friend after I got married in 2009 and I haven’t heard from her since. How did that come to be? I have no clue and couldn’t tell you! Two: my college friends/roommates and I had a huge falling out, partially over an idiot boyfriend I was dealing with. I saw a side of my “friends” that I didn’t like or trust. In looking back, I wish I never met the guy! Maybe if I didn’t, I still would’ve been friends with these ladies. But, in my heart I knew it was a good thing that the “friendships” were no more and I have no regrets.
Finding friends as a woman is completely different then men. Men can bond easily over sports, Playstation games or any other random topic. For women, it takes an open mind to be willing to connect with another woman.  As I said in my previous post, I didn’t make friends until a year after I moved here. Its important to have solid friendships you can count on. Someone you can share things with and be yourself. So today, I want to encourage you to evaluate your friendships! Are you pouring into them more then they are pouring into you? Do you feel in your heart this person has your back, cheers you on and loves you? Do they show signs of envy? Mistrust? Is this friendship only for a season or a lifetime?
It was in my heart to share with you some of the different types of friendships in my life currently that I love and would not change for the world.
1) Can call at anytime and talk about absolutely nothing
2) Haven’t talked in months or years but can pick up the conversation like nothing changed
3) Text buddies: life is busy and a phone call may take too much effort. But, a text is just as fun too!
4) The friend who cheers you on, share your deepest secrets and is proud to be your friend
5) The friend you have known all your life that you can talk about childhood memories and experiences with from way back when.
I saw this quote on Instagram and boy, did it resonate with me!
“You don’t need a certain number of friends. You just need a number of friends you can be certain of!”
Tell me your experiences with friendships! Do you have the same “types” of friends that I do?

Thank God Its Almost Friday!! The weekend is upon us and if your weather is anything like here in Dallas, its always confusing. It was rainy and cold last week and now its been in the 70s all week long! When weather like this arrives, its best to have some easy, transitional items in your closet to layer with that will carry you throughout the day such as this gorgeous cape! Its perfect for this inconsistent weather!! You can easily layer it with thin cami’s or a long sleeve tee underneath or if it gets cold, throw it over a layer jacket or coat! It’s so easy to unzip this cape and take right off when it gets warm! I love it and for under $30, I’m here for it! I’m also currently obsessing over flare jeans and NEED to buy more. These J Brand flare jeans I scored for $20 at a consignment shop here in Dallas. I’ve linked another similar, yet affordable pair for you below. I can’t wait to buy a few more pairs in black and white. I’ll definitely wear my flares with tanks, tees and off shoulder tops come spring!
How cute is this french bakery right in Dallas? Their croissants are amazingly delicious! I wanted to take each and every one home with me to eat with a hot cup of coffee and cozy pjs.
Anyhoo, what are some of your favorite transitional pieces in your wardrobe?

I’m not a person who feels like I have to participate in every trend out there. Some of them I love but aren’t really practical or I’m just not that enthused. But, I’m here for this one! The bomber jacket has made its way to this years spring trend and can be seen on celebrities and fashionistas alike! It’s super casual and relaxed, but can be worn a variety of ways to dress up or down your look. You can find it in many fits and colors. I even saw it in a blush pink shade (NEED!) When my little eyes spotted this bomber jacket in my favorite olive green color, it took no time from going from the rack to the register! The fit is amazing, the weight is perfect for this crazy, inconsistent weather and its pretty much EVERY THING! There are so many ways to style a bomber jacket: with a midi dress and heels, t shirt and sneakers, leather pants or culottes. The possibilities are ridiculous!  I kept it simple with a cute graphic tee (“Haute Mama” anyone?), gray skinny jeans and statement bag. This is one of those looks when I think of the saying, “Don’t ask me what I’m doing, you know I’m out here being cute!” Ha Ha!!
Tell me, how do you feel about the bomber craze? Are you all over it or nah?!
See you soon for my next post!

Hi there! Valentine’s Day is on the horizon and there are so many ways to share in this special day. Whether its with your honey or a budding new romance, its always nice to know that love is in the air. But, that doesn’t mean your girlfriends are not included!! I bring you our “Galentine’s Day” collaborative shoot with these blogger babes: AquiaEryn, and Melody !!! These ladies are lifestyle and fashion bloggers right here in the Dallas area. When I tell you, these ladies are stylish, creative and so much fun, I really mean it. We had a great time and brunch plans are already in the making!! It was amazing partnering with thredUp as we picked out some cute, gently used designer pieces to add to our wardrobe collection. I picked out this black, moto leather jacket by Zara for under $65!!! I mean, what a deal! The detailing of the jacket and the touches of leather are right up my alley. We spent the afternoon wine tasting at Delaney Vineyards & Winery, a local vineyard,  right here in Texas. After a few sips…. or five we took to the vineyards and shot away!
Tell me, are you getting with your girlfriends and having a “Galentine’s Day” of your own??
Please stop by AquiaMelody and Eryn’s blog to see what they got from thredUp and for more eye candy goodness!! I promise you won’t be disappointed!
