Hello loves! Its Thursday and that means I am a happy camper as the weekend is upon us! When I styled this look, I knew I wanted it to be a little casual, but impactful. Dallas weather this winter has been all over the place, its cold one-minute and warm the next. So I took to layering up! I did a nod to the 90s movie “Clueless,” by wearing a crop top over a flowy blouse and a little print mixing! The burgundy cropped turtleneck and handbag adds warmth and depth to the look. Throw in a great pair of distressed, ripped jeans and faux fur pom poms for the cutest details. This is a great outfit because you get a balancing act of using two bold prints: camouflage and leopard together. I’d like to share a few of my own personal tips for print mixing. I always admire the girls that can throw on three different prints and make it work. But, I’m a little conservative when it comes to print mixing. I don’t want to look like I got dressed in the dark lol. I still want to look effortless and maintain my sense of style. Don’t let print mixing overwhelm you. I have five tips of how I incorporate print mixing in my wardrobe that works for me!
1. Be open to trying different patterns and prints- Leopard, floral, plaid, polka dots, camouflage, tweed, stripes etc. Write down the prints you currently have and create combinations. This allows you to think a little outside of the box and get the creative juices flowing!
2. There’s levels to this- Determine how bold you are willing to go with print mixing. Personally, I don’t want my prints “competing” with one another. In today’s look, you can see how I wore the camo jacket and the leopard shoes together. But, notice how these two prints are not close to one another. To me, this is an easier approach to mixing prints since they’re not directly next to each other.
3. Wear one bold print and a smaller print – Imagine a floral dress with huge flowers and a leopard coat with gigantic spots. It’s too much!! Try wearing a floral dress with smaller floral print and a leopard coat with bigger spots or vice versa. Tone down the proportions of the print for more impact and wearability.
4. Accessorize- don’t forget, you can incorporate accessories when print mixing too! Honestly, accessories are a great start for a rookie print mixer. Take note of my tortoise shell sunglasses! Its a small touch but another print added to the mix. An easy print to start with is leopard! A leopard bracelet or leopard handbag or shoes can just about work with any other print. Leopard is all the rage right now. Embrace it!
5. Back to step 1, those combinations you wrote down? Yes, its time to try it all on. Allow yourself to visually see how the prints look on your frame and body. Discover what works for you and makes you the most comfortable when mixing prints. You’d be surprised at what you come up with!

Attention! This is not a baby/kid friendly outfit! Please put your white pants on and immediately leave the house before kiddy fingers can touch it lol. As a new mom, this outfit I definitely wouldnt wear hanging out with the little. She always find something to get into and wearing white pants would not be the smartest choice. So this is a look that I would put on at the VERY last minute to leave the house in and even then, thats a risk lol.
I love camo! It’s the one print I feel I can always get right when incorporating it into my wardrobe. I dress it up, dress it down and can pretty much wear it with anything! This jacket is one of my fav’s in my closet that I can always grab it and go, as well as add a bit of interest to my outfit. I love mixing neutral color palettes together and yet create an eye catching look. The camo jacket, statement bag and cognac sandals does just that! How do you feel about camo?
