Can you believe that Christmas is only days away? I have so much to do and so little time. It’s a little hard to get into the Christmas spirit here in Dallas when the weather is still quite warm. I was excited to head to New York over a week ago to experience some winter weather. Well, was I in for a  surprise when the high was 60 degrees during the time we were there! It was still a little chilly, but perfect weather to layer with fur vests, knee boots and parka jackets. I love layering because you can take off or add on and still be warm, as well as comfortable. I also find its better to carry a smaller bag when layering outfits so that you’re not adding on any additional bulk. This merlot, suede cross body bag was the perfect companion for touring the city. It holds so much and is so easy to throw on and go! I wore it as a cross body and as a clutch for night time attire as well.
I promise to fill you in on more details about my trip to New York very soon! As I said earlier, I have so much to do to prepare for Christmas. So I better let you go and jump on my Christmas shopping ASAP!

Hi there! Thanks for stopping by the blog today!! I am quite obsessed with leather leggings. I think I may have about ten pair and counting. I swear they speak to me and are my go- to for fall and winter wear. I’ve had these pair of olive green leather leggings for a few years now and was never quite sure how to wear them. I just knew that I loved them and had to have them. Well, I was on my Pinterest as usual and saw the above image. I knew I had to recreate it and put my own spin on it. I pulled out these leggings and knew they were perfect for this look. I also added one of my favorite statement bags to pull in the burgundy shades along with the shoes,  I intended to wear a jean jacket with this outfit, but in my haste out the door to this shoot, I left it at home. #bloggerproblems

I am super excited that next weekend I am headed to New York for a girls trip!! This will be my first time away from Camille, ever! I know I’ll be a little emotional leaving her, but I need this get away. It will be nice to take a break from worrying about bottles, nap time and diaper changes. Now its time to leave her in daddy’s capable hands…. this should be interesting!

Happy Thanksgiving!!! Thanks for stopping by the blog today! I hope you are having a fabulous time with family and friends. Today’s look is an easy, comfy Thanksgiving outfit you can wear to a family dinner while yet, remaining stylish. There are so many favorite pieces to this outfit: the olive sweater cape, bold red bag, ripped jeans and these “GORGEOUS” Over the Knee boots! Now, you can always trade out the jeans for some comfy leggings so you can really get down and enjoy your meal (don’t worry, no judging here), but I always love wearing my ripped jeans anytime I get a chance. You really cannot do any wrong with this simple, but statement making look.
The year has flown by so quickly. I remember last year being on maternity leave with my little girl during Thanksgiving. We traveled to Chicago on our first airplane trip together to visit my brother in law in college. It was a trip full of worry of her first plane ride, keeping her warm in the brutal cold, and our first Thanksgiving together as a family of three. Now with having a child, the memories of my time spent with her are bolder, more vivid and have more meaning. So forgive me as I reflect on this time last year. She’s grown so much!! I am most thankful of this child of mine, who is the sparkle in my eye and the reason I keep going.

Hey There!! It’s time to get that Christmas shopping started if you can believe it. I’ve got some great gift guides for your bestie or nearest and dearest friends. I’ve created ” The Girlfriend’s Guide to Gift Giving” series to help you find the perfect gift for your girl! I will cover the fashionista, the happy hostess, the homebody and the foodie! Today’s installment is focused on your fashionista friend. You know the one, the friend who is always so stylish, up on the latest trends and can usually be found at the mall (this is so me) lol.

You can never go wrong with a great pair of gloves, gorgeous purse or sparkly accessories with the fashionista. If you really want to give her a special gift, a chic leather jacket or leopard cape would be perfect for this stylish girl. Really, there is something in this guide for the fashionista out there! Happy Sunday! I talked to you recently about my top picks for capes (click here) and I am so in love with this fall trend. My love for capes started last fall where I went crazy and bought about five of them lol. Well, it continues and this cape right here?!?! A-MAZING! As soon as my eyes saw this beauty I had to have it. The black and white with the rust contrast just speaks fall. I kept it easy by wearing black over the knee wedge boots and my go to black bag. Trust me, you need this cape in your life. It’s the perfect fall piece to give you a little sophistication, edge and why not, a little sass!
I hope you have a fabulous week. Can you believe Thanksgiving is this Thursday?? Time flies so quickly. I am so thankful for all of the blessings in my life. I can’t wait to share the holiday season with friends and family.

I’m a girl whose all about a good cape!! I find they are so easy to throw on and are a great transitional piece when fall weather is a bit fickle. The weather is finally changing and cooling down a bit in Dallas. It’s the perfect time to start layering and adding stylish fall vests to your closet. I love vests for this reason and there are so many great, affordable options out there to build your fall wardrobe with. I love that these vests are neutral in tone and can work with so many outfit options. You could layer them with a long sleeve sweater or t shirt with jeans or leather leggings, or edge up a knit dress by topping it off with a vest as well. Fall vest’s are my go- to as the weather turns crisp and chilly. I can’t wait to pull out mine to wear for the Pumpkin Patch this weekend!!

This time of year is all about layering up for the dropping temperatures. I love wearing a warm jacket and topping off the look with a stylish scarf! I’ve rounded up a few jacket/scarf combinations that I am sure you will love. I love wearing scarves in the Fall! Especially blanket scarves, they are so cozy. I really feel it adds to any look and there are so many cute options out there that make it fun as well. Hey loves! If you can tell by the title of this post, I am celebrating my 6 month blogiversary of my blog, Alwayz Fashionably Late!! I can’t believe that I finally started my fashion blog and have been going strong for six months!! It’s unreal!! I’ve rounded up for you my favorite top ten blog posts as a look back from where I got started. Please click on the links and take a look in case you missed it!
 When I first decided to start a blog, I was so fearful. I was nervous about the response I would get from those who know me, people who didn’t know me and what people would think of me blogging. I’m a very private person, I have a select group of friends and I don’t open up much to those I don’t know. As my mother would to say, “keep living and you’ll learn!” I never understood what that meant until I got older, but basically I’ve learned along the way that quality over quantity is key with relationships with others and I prefer it that way. But, starting a blog is opening myself up to others I don’t know. How and why would I do this?
Well, I knew how much I really felt inspired by other fashion bloggers because I could relate to them simply based on their style. You almost feel a little connected to bloggers you follow because they are letting you in on a piece of their life. Not everything is picture perfect as it seems, but you feel connected with others over the images they share that simply inspire you. So I thought, why can I not be that individual that inspire others? Maybe its high time I break, just a little, my shell and put myself out there and at least try.
Well, I tell you what, its been an amazing six months of blogging! I’ve met awesome bloggers, photographers, learned so much about the business of blogging and opened myself up to the possibility of making new friends who understands what this blog life is about. Its not easy! In case you didn’t know, it takes a lot of work! But, living in Dallas, I feel like I have an advantage because of so many great local bloggers, organizations and photographers are right here that I have worked and networked with that have made this journey so much easier.
I would like to thank you, my readers for the encouragement, sharing with friends and just for being you! I am definitely grateful and excited for bigger and better things to come. Of course, I have to thank my hubby for being so understanding and letting me do what makes me happy! Ok, enough of my thank you’s! I can’t wait to see what the next six months will bring to my blog!
