Thank Goodness its Thursday!!! So I know you want the deets on this dress. So its time to spill the tea!  This maxi dress is EVERYTHING, right??!! I love a good maxi dress. But, it’s so hard sometimes to find the “PERFECT” maxi. The geometric print, high slit, and the movement of the dress gives it life. I was happy when SheIn reached out to me to choose a piece from their line to review. I’m always on the hunt for a stylish maxi dress. So as soon as I saw this dress, I knew I’d have to have it. It screams my style!! And its under $25!!! Drops the mic!

Now, here are a few things you need to know about this dress before you order!

1. Size DOWN!! – this beauty runs big. I normally wear a small (size 4), but I chose an Extra Small in this dress and I still had room up top (itty bitty committee anyone?). So I strongly suggest to check out the measurements on the site or just go a size down. You won’t lose the fluidity of the dress, but you don’t want it to sag on you either.

2. Wear a Slip!!!- As you can see, this dress has a very high slit. There were a few times that I almost had a Marilyn Monroe moment while shooting in this dress lol. So make sure you put a little something underneath so that you are not caught in a “woman down” situation

3. The dress is thin- The material on this dress is thin and very lightweight. So don’t expect it to have weight. It may be of concern to you, but this doesn’t bother me as the dress still looks and feels amazing. Perfect for this Texas heat! Just keep in mind to wear a slip or seamless shape wear underneath so that panty lines are not seen.

4. Shipping- this dress is being shipped from overseas! I received this dress about a week or two after I ordered it. So please make sure to read about the shipping times!

Disclaimer-  My honest reviews and opinions for items gifted to me are my own. I strive to provide honest feedback to my viewers. Gifted items are disclosed with “c/o.”

Hello again! Don’t you love stylish, affordable pieces that looks like you paid so much more (raises hand)?? Well, I sure do! I stumbled across this gem of a jacket a month or so ago. A lightweight, BLUSH PINK leather jacket for under $100?! That is a huge steal!! As soon as I saw it, I knew I had to have it. As you can see, I’ve worn it in a previous look on my blog and its perfect for layering. This jacket is very lightweight. So it won’t keep you very warm when there is a brisk chill in the air. It is, however, amazing for the spring! You could wear it with boyfriend jeans, skirts or floral dresses. It creates the perfect finishing piece to whatever outfit you desire. Here, I donned it with a leather pencil skirt and heels for a more dressy occasion.

What have been your style steals so far for spring??

Hey Loves! I’m glad to have you stop by the blog today. After three attempts of my laptop shutting down on me, I sure hope you enjoy this post! I’m back wearing this adorable olive green bomber jacket again. I always reach for it when I head out the house. Its great finding those “trendy” yet practical pieces to incorporate in your wardrobe. I have a feeling this bomber jacket will be worn plenty, trend or not! I’m also wearing my favorite leather jogger pants. These pants are one of my go to’s. For $15, you better get you a pair NOW!! Its nothing like comfy pants (drawstring waist anyone?) you can wear day or night and feel like a fashionista!! I’m also loving my sunglasses. Target always gets me in the accessory aisle. These “cat eye” sunglasses are no exception and I am happy to add them to my collection.
A few weeks back, I wrote a blog post called “Twenty Things You Don’t Know About Me” and I spoke on how cautious I am with friendships. I wanted to touch base on this a little bit. I’m 34 years old and I have had a few experiences on failed friendships. One: my best friend that I had known since high school, decided that she no longer wanted to be my friend after I got married in 2009 and I haven’t heard from her since. How did that come to be? I have no clue and couldn’t tell you! Two: my college friends/roommates and I had a huge falling out, partially over an idiot boyfriend I was dealing with. I saw a side of my “friends” that I didn’t like or trust. In looking back, I wish I never met the guy! Maybe if I didn’t, I still would’ve been friends with these ladies. But, in my heart I knew it was a good thing that the “friendships” were no more and I have no regrets.
Finding friends as a woman is completely different then men. Men can bond easily over sports, Playstation games or any other random topic. For women, it takes an open mind to be willing to connect with another woman.  As I said in my previous post, I didn’t make friends until a year after I moved here. Its important to have solid friendships you can count on. Someone you can share things with and be yourself. So today, I want to encourage you to evaluate your friendships! Are you pouring into them more then they are pouring into you? Do you feel in your heart this person has your back, cheers you on and loves you? Do they show signs of envy? Mistrust? Is this friendship only for a season or a lifetime?
It was in my heart to share with you some of the different types of friendships in my life currently that I love and would not change for the world.
1) Can call at anytime and talk about absolutely nothing
2) Haven’t talked in months or years but can pick up the conversation like nothing changed
3) Text buddies: life is busy and a phone call may take too much effort. But, a text is just as fun too!
4) The friend who cheers you on, share your deepest secrets and is proud to be your friend
5) The friend you have known all your life that you can talk about childhood memories and experiences with from way back when.
I saw this quote on Instagram and boy, did it resonate with me!
“You don’t need a certain number of friends. You just need a number of friends you can be certain of!”
Tell me your experiences with friendships! Do you have the same “types” of friends that I do?

You guys, I have found a deal for you!! This amazing black, fringe, leather jacket is only $30!!! Now, I bought this jacket about a year ago at Nordstrom’s for $100. I was OBSESSED with it and still am. As I was putting together this post and tried to find similar options for you, I was certain it was no longer available. But, to my surprise (drumroll please) I found the same leather fringe jacket and for $30!!! Is that not an AMAZING deal?! Matter of fact, most of the items I am wearing in this post is under $30 with the exception of the handbag and boots. I love steals like this that look like you spent serious coins! The gray jeans are my new favorites and fits me to a “T.” Since the weather is starting to warm up, I wanted to pull out my Stuart Weitzman Over the Knee dupes one more time! I will miss these boots when the weather warms up and calls for open toe sandals, flip flops and wedges.
I also linked up some other super cute leather fringe jacket options if you care to click thru!
The weekend is already coming to a close. I had the best time with my family yesterday enjoying the sunny weather, eating al fresco and taking my daughter to see the ducks at the pond.
Tell me, how did you spend your weekend??

Thank God Its Almost Friday!! The weekend is upon us and if your weather is anything like here in Dallas, its always confusing. It was rainy and cold last week and now its been in the 70s all week long! When weather like this arrives, its best to have some easy, transitional items in your closet to layer with that will carry you throughout the day such as this gorgeous cape! Its perfect for this inconsistent weather!! You can easily layer it with thin cami’s or a long sleeve tee underneath or if it gets cold, throw it over a layer jacket or coat! It’s so easy to unzip this cape and take right off when it gets warm! I love it and for under $30, I’m here for it! I’m also currently obsessing over flare jeans and NEED to buy more. These J Brand flare jeans I scored for $20 at a consignment shop here in Dallas. I’ve linked another similar, yet affordable pair for you below. I can’t wait to buy a few more pairs in black and white. I’ll definitely wear my flares with tanks, tees and off shoulder tops come spring!
How cute is this french bakery right in Dallas? Their croissants are amazingly delicious! I wanted to take each and every one home with me to eat with a hot cup of coffee and cozy pjs.
Anyhoo, what are some of your favorite transitional pieces in your wardrobe?

The denim jacket is one of those staple items in your closet you don’t really appreciate until you really need it. To be honest, I got rid of the denim jacket I had because I was over it and didn’t feel I needed it. As the saying goes “you don’t know what you got until its gone” rings true. It wasn’t until I was looking for a perfect jacket to complete a look when I realized I needed a denim jacket.  So I purchased this one and I love it. Its the perfect jacket to throw on with anything and go! From jeans, dresses or skirts, the options are endless! I like to roll the sleeves up and stack a few bracelets on for a little extra “umph!” I also loved pairing my black, ripped jeans with the brown, suede over the knee boots and snakeskin bag. Its a great mix of textures and adds a little excitement as well.
Do you still rock a denim jacket? How do you style this classic piece?
Oh, before I forget! I must invite all of my Dallas fashionistas out to a Pop Up Shop event featuring “Luxury Garage Sale” at the “W Hotel- Victory Park,” Sunday, March 6th! Luxury brands such as Chanel, Celine and more will be on sale at great prices. Time to whip out that credit card and shop!

Hey loves! Thanks for stopping by the blog! Its so hard sometimes to plan outfits for my blog posts. I often feel like I am missing one key piece that will really tie it all together. Well, this outfit is a prime example. I wanted to wear ripped boyfriend jeans, booties and a t shirt, but I couldn’t make it all come together. Something was missing! I tried really hard to not buy anything (oh who am I kidding)  but I couldn’t resist when I saw this gray, midi cardigan. If you are wondering how to layer, this is a perfect example on how to do so. Its always best to use layer lightly so that the fit isn’t snug or uncomfortable. I love this midi cardigan because it’s lightweight and perfect for those chilly days or nights when trying to keep warm. I was a little worried about it looking too long on me. But, by creating height in wearing the boyfriend jeans cuffed a little higher, and the high ankle boots, it was a winner. Again, a great example on how to layer for spring! This is the cutest outfit for a morning coffee run to your local coffee house don’t you agree?
Oh, and thank you for all of the great feedback on my “20 Things You Don’t Know About Me” blog post. I have a lot in common with most of you. Its funny how the world works. We often feel like we are alone in the situations we are going through, and that no one could understand. But, that is not always the case. Somebody, somewhere may have walked in your shoes a little bit. Its amazing to know that I can connect with my readers over me sharing bits and pieces of my life. I appreciate you all coming along with me on this blogging journey. You make it worth it!!

I’m not a person who feels like I have to participate in every trend out there. Some of them I love but aren’t really practical or I’m just not that enthused. But, I’m here for this one! The bomber jacket has made its way to this years spring trend and can be seen on celebrities and fashionistas alike! It’s super casual and relaxed, but can be worn a variety of ways to dress up or down your look. You can find it in many fits and colors. I even saw it in a blush pink shade (NEED!) When my little eyes spotted this bomber jacket in my favorite olive green color, it took no time from going from the rack to the register! The fit is amazing, the weight is perfect for this crazy, inconsistent weather and its pretty much EVERY THING! There are so many ways to style a bomber jacket: with a midi dress and heels, t shirt and sneakers, leather pants or culottes. The possibilities are ridiculous!  I kept it simple with a cute graphic tee (“Haute Mama” anyone?), gray skinny jeans and statement bag. This is one of those looks when I think of the saying, “Don’t ask me what I’m doing, you know I’m out here being cute!” Ha Ha!!
Tell me, how do you feel about the bomber craze? Are you all over it or nah?!
See you soon for my next post!

Happy Friday Eve!! Well, what do you know I have an outfit post without me wearing heels. Ha Ha! What I am loving is the new athleisure trend. Athleisure wear is basically athletic wear that you can go anywhere with. Gym to brunch or just out and about. Now, I’m not your sporty fashionista and don’t hit the gym as I should. But, I love my heels! I think I have about 3 pairs of gym shoes and two of those are of the wedge variety. So it was high time that I refreshed my little collection and bought a new pair.  So this is my take on making athleisure a little edgy with the leather leggings (which are so comfy) and the cutest leather jacket. Obsessed is not even the word with these Nike’s. The rose gold is the PERFECT accent color to these black beauties. I saw these sneakers on Instagram and had to have them. I stalked the site for them to restock in my size and as soon as it did, I immediately added to cart! I like mixing a little bit of sport with chic.  Even though this look doesn’t incorporate your yoga pants or track jacket (is that what their called? lol) this look is perfect for running errands or on the go! The blush pink leather jacket and cozy, graphic sweater help set the tone for a well put together chic, athleisure look.
What are your favorite ways to make your sneakers look chic?

dallas blogger, fashion blogger, get to know me, alwayz fashionably late get to know me

Hello There! I thought I would do a little something different and create a fun post for my readers! I want to open up to you a bit and give you a little insight as to who I am. I am generally a private person, so blogging and putting myself out there is already a task in itself. But, I am open to new possibilities and I want you all to get to know me better.

So, here are 20 things you don’t know about me… Ready, Set, READ!

1. I am an only child. I yearned for a brother or sister so badly when I was younger and was over it when I became a teenager. I guess I am a little spoiled and realized hey, more things for me! SMH.

2. My birthday is January 15th and I am 34 years old. After I turned 30, I stopped keeping track of how old I am. Matter of fact, I asked my husband how old I was last night LOL.

3. I have a 17 month old, BEAUTIFUL girl named Camille.  She is my air, heart beat and reason for why I smile. I only featured her on the blog about twice. It’s scary putting your child out there on social media because you never know what crazy person you may run across. I am playing with the idea of incorporating her more in my blog for “Mommy and Me” looks. But, I am unsure. I don’t know guys, I am praying about that and we’ll see where it goes.

4. I’ve been married for 6 years. We got married on October 3rd in Detroit, Michigan. I absolutely loved planning my wedding and did most of it myself with the exception of my friend who was my wedding planner. A funny memory from my wedding is that our wedding menu’s my husband and I created had the wrong date on them and we didn’t realize it until we sat down at the dinner table. Oh well!

5. I was raised in the church. Its pretty much all I know and all of my childhood and teenage years I was always, always at church. Now that I am older, I am so glad for this upbringing. Its made me stronger and created a walk with God. I’ve been failing miserably now at attending church on a regular basis. I’m determined to get back at it, not only for myself, but for my daughter too!

6. I am terrible at math. I hate it. Next!

7. I went to Howard University and lived in D.C. for about five years. I have a love/hate relationship with D.C. You need money to live there comfortably and being a college student I didn’t have it lol.

8. I love to travel. I wish I did more of it when I was younger and before I had my little one. My husband and I did manage to go to London and Paris before we started trying to have a baby. I loved it and want to go back… NOW!

9. I moved to Dallas in 2007 to see if my relationship with my then boyfriend turned hubby would work. We did long distance for 2 years and I was over it. I told him I would move to Dallas to see where this relationship went and he needs to put a ring on it in a year or I’m moving on…

10. He put a ring on it! Ha! I wasn’t playing any games! He proposed in my hometown about 8 months after I moved to Dallas. Poor thing got down on the knee he had ACL surgery on a few months back. He was so uncomfortable. I guess thats love huh? LOL.

11. Being an only child, I always wanted a big family. Now that I am older and know how expensive children are, two is enough!

12. Oh yeah, we want to try for another one the end of the year. Wish us well!

13. My hubby and I always agreed on girl names and not boy names. But, when we found out we were having a girl, we didn’t figure out her name until I was about 7 months pregnant lol.

14. I love to eat! Sweets are my weakness. I am currently craving my Talenti “Mediterranean Mint” gelato as we speak. As soon as I submit this post, its going DOWN!

15. I never had any alcohol in my entire life until I moved to Dallas. I think I was around 24 then lol. I recall my husband and I going to a Timeshare event and I decided to have my first drink. A margarita… lets just say I left feeling “tipsy” for the first time in my life. Now I love a glass or two!

16. I have a dog, his name is Noah. My husband gave him to me for a Valentine’s gift several years ago. I don’t post him as much on Insta like I use to. He’s such a handful now with his little sis Camille here.

17. I am very cautious about establishing friendships with people due to burned “friendships” in the past. I didn’t decide to make friends here in Dallas until a year after I moved here. I went on an event posted on a Meetup site and these girls are now my “ride or die” friends ever since! Timing is everything!

18. I have a degree in Business Management with a concentration in Healthcare that I haven’t used. I wish I knew years ago what I want to really do with my life. These student loans don’t care that I’m not using my degree. Rude much?

19. I have/had Scoliosis. Scoliosis is basically when your spine is curved and not straight. My curve, from what I remember, was around 40 degrees. My mom noticed that I wasn’t standing up straight and took me to the doctor. I wore a terribly hard, and huge brace that was to help restrict the curve from growing and to straighten my spine. I rarely wore it because it was so uncomfortable and hard to breathe. I got spinal fusion surgery when I turned 21. Spinal Fusion is where they straighten the spine by placing a few rods in your back to align the spine and significantly reduce the curve. I have a nice scar down the center of my back because of it and my curve is pretty much non existent. The confidence and peace of mind in finally having the surgery gave me is worth it all the pain I endured. I always was so self conscious because of how noticeable the curve was. I felt like a weight was lifted and I felt confident and even proud to show my scar. It was the best decision yet!

20. As I posted before on the blog, my mom passed away five years ago of cancer. I think of her EVERY SINGLE DAY and it still hurts. If you have a beautiful relationship with your mother, cherish it! Thank God for it! If you have a broken relationship with your mother, FIX IT! Ask God to repair and set free the chains that are binding you from the bond that is needed between a mother and daughter! There are those like me who no longer have their mom that wishes she was still here to love, laugh and hit the malls with. I don’t want you to miss out on such an important relationship in your life!

I hope this was enlightening for you and you get to know me a little more. Its almost been a year since I’ve started blogging and I really want my readers to feel like they have a little peak into who I am. Thanks for stopping by and see you Thursday for my next post!!
