Hey Loves!!

Wow, its been a while since my last post! Things have been very busy around here at the Green household. For one, we welcomed my son, Xavier Drew Green, into the world on June 25, 2018!! We are trying to find our new normal with a newborn in the house. Let me tell you, its no joke! Camille is a wonderful big sister! She is very helpful and loves her baby brother so much. As for me, I am recovering just fine! It’s an adjustment to get use to sleepless nights. Not to mention managing a toddler as well as a newborn!! It’s a struggle, but its worth it knowing my family of four is complete. I asked you all on Instagram if you wanted to read my birth story! 100% of you said yes! So sit back, relax and read how Xavier decided to enter the world and change our lives forever!

Sunday night, June 24th, at 39 weeks 2 days, I started having strong contractions around 11:30 pm! They were about five mins apart, then to 10 then to 8 mins for over an hour. Hubby called our hospital to let them know and they said to come in if we would like. I recall with Camille that my contractions were very sporadic. We weren’t even sure if I was really experiencing labor or Braxton Hicks contractions with Camille. But, with Xavier, the contractions were very much consistent, time wise! We knew we better leave ASAP because they got stronger and closer together. It hurt like heck and I couldn’t talk thru them much less breathe thru them. So I knew the time was coming!

We got ready to leave for hospital and woke Camille up from bed. At this point it was almost 2am!! We drove to the hospital, contractions coming faster and stronger!! The pain was so unbearable, I was gripping the car door with all my might. In looking back, I don’t  recall the pain being that bad with Camille. It seemed like it was taking forever to get to the hospital. I remember telling Eric to hurry up and drive! LOL. Our hospital is only 15 minutes away, but I swear it felt like forever!  We finally made it to the  hospital. Eric pulled up to the door and ran in to get me a wheelchair. I’m having contractions in the wheelchair and trying to breathe thru them. Eric had to park the car so I was waiting for him and Camille to walk in. As I wait in the lobby, I felt a gush and felt like I peed on myself. Omg, my water broke!

We made it to L&D floor and they check me in. In my mind, everyone was moving at a snails pace. I told them my water broke and I had to go to the bathroom. The nurses let me go to the bathroom and I had to walk myself to the bed. I found that so crazy that they weren’t helping me walk to my bed. Like hello, my water just broke! I know they are Labor and Delivery nurses and have seen it all, but I needed someone to understand my strife and help me lol.

Well, they check my cervix and I’m already 7cm dilated and 100% effaced! I told them I wanted an epidural. They kept taking forever finding my vein for IV. It took THREE attempts. Yes, THREE! Imagine having contractions and someone trying to poke you with a needle too. Not fun! Again, it seemed like no one was in a hurry to get me this IV put in so that I could get an epidural. While laying in bed, I’m shaking from pain and fear. I began to feel fluid pouring out. I tell them, so they check me again and I’m already 9 cm!! At that time my contractions were now 2 mins apart!! They called the on call doc to tell her to come (mind you I thought that was already done 30 mins ago when I arrived). My nurses also told me that the doctor lives about 20 minutes away. Excuse me, what?! Who is not holding this baby in so that a doctor can get here is me! Let’s get this over with! Lol.

I start to feel pressure and they check again. I’m 9.5!! They tell me they can try to give the epidural, but it may not take and I would have to do it natural. I cried because I’m absolutely terrified at the thought of natural birth. Especially since the pain I was experiencing was so terrible. I’ve always planned to have an epidural and was not mentally prepared to have a natural birth. But, I had no choice at this point. They check me again and I’m 10cm! Hallelujah! The doctor came in just in time and they tell me time to push.

I push for about four attempts. I am shaking, terrified and in so much pain. Camille is at the nurses station while this is going on, so we’re good there. They tell me to push again and it feels like HELL. It was hard to focus on the end goal because the pain was so unbearable. I was so scared. I scream and tell them I cant do it! My husband is trying to encourage me, but again I’m so scared. I was screaming “someone please help me!” I can laugh about it now, but thats how I really felt at the moment. The doctor tells me that his head is almost out so its time to push as hard as I can. I push hard and I feel the “ring of fire” pain that I heard about with natural labor. Its hard to explain, but I felt it. After I give that one big push, I hear “here he is, You did it!!”

I couldn’t even open my eyes to look at him when they pull him out because I was so miserable and upset with how painful everything was. I couldn’t believe that it was actually over! It seemed like there wasn’t going to be an end to the labor. But, of course it was! They hand him to me and I finally  look down to the cutest little baby boy I ever did see!

Xavier Drew Green, 5 pounds 5 oz, born June 25th at 3:12am. I started contractions June 24th, 11:30pm and he arrived June 25th 3:12 a.m. A very quick labor! He’s absolutely perfect! Xavier Drew is already at 8 pounds as of his 5 week appointment this past week. I love this little man so much!

Are there plans for any more children in the future?

This is the last child for Eric and I. I am so thankful that God has blessed us with two, beautiful children. After this labor, all I have to say is, women we rock!! The things are bodies can do such as bring life into this world is absolutely amazing!! I am glad I was able to experience the gift of having children. Now the goal is to raise God fearing, intelligent and responsible children in the world we live in today. Please pray for my husband and I as we do just that!

Hello Loves!

I remember being pregnant with Camille, I  wanted the perfect, stylish diaper bag. Especially with having a girl! I just imagined myself walking through the mall or park with my baby in my stroller and my super cute diaper bag in arm. Ha! I can look back at that now and laugh. After I had Camille and actually had to utilize a diaper bag, it wasn’t the most functional and easy bag to carry. It was super difficult trying to manage a stroller, squeezing the diaper bag into the basket or hanging it on the stroller. Let’s not even mention the times I was just carrying the car seat and the diaper bag sliding off my arm every five minutes. I hated it! It started to become such a hassle to carry around, I would often times leave it in the car and just grab the essentials.

I recall Eric and I getting ready to take our first airplane trip with Camille as a baby to visit my brother in law in Chicago. She was about four months old. As a new parent, I spent so much time going over every detail making sure I packed what Camille needed for a successful trip.  I made sure to have a baby carrier on hand so I could just baby wear her in the airport while Eric dealt with the car seat, stroller and other things. I did not want to deal with carrying my diaper bag while trying to manage the chaos of travel and baby wearing Camille. While I was out shopping,  I stumbled upon diaper backpacks. I don’t know what rock I was living under, but I knew it had to be easier to travel with a backpack versus a tote bag. You guys, total game changer! From then on, I carried my diaper backpack all the time. Life was much easier!

My diaper backpack I wore at the time has now seen better days. After getting pregnant this second time around, I kept hearing and reading good things about Ju-Ju-Be Diaper Bags. I knew I wanted a versatile bag to carry Xavier’s essentials as well as things for Camille and I too. So many moms were saying they loved the quality of the Ju-Ju-Be bags! They loved how easy it was to keep clean, plenty of pockets and easy access to different compartments. Well, low and behold when I went to check them out, I saw they also offered diaper backpacks. Yay!

What are some of the Ju-Ju-Be Diaper Bag features?

So I am very happy that I was able to partner with Ju-Ju-Be and share with you all their bags. They also offer accessories such as changing pads, pacifier pods, bottle bags, pumping bags & more.  The price point for a diaper backpack is about $155. Another thing I like about the backpacks are the ergonomic backpack straps!  This is perfect for me because I sometimes suffer from back pains. Also, the fabric is made of Teflon, perfect for repelling stains. It also features two exterior insulated pockets to keep bottles warm or cold. Another great feature is that the backpack opens fully out, so you can easily see and access whats in your bag. I love this because sometimes you have to dig and dig to try to find anything thats fallen to the bottom of your backpack. So annoying!

I absolutely love the style that I selected too. Its called the “Be Right Back” Diaper Backpack in the Versailles style. I love the print and color, its really gender neutral in my opinion. Although Eric begs to differ. In fact, he said this backpack reminds him of the “New Kanye.” Lmbo and my argument was that its absolutely not the “New Kanye,” its the “Old Kanye!!” There is a huge difference people!  Lol.

Whats in my diaper bag?

I thought I would also share with you what’s in my diaper bag! This is so helpful for new moms or moms who haven’t had a baby in a while. Even I had to go back and research to see what I should pack in his diaper bag!

  1. Change of clothes: at least 2-3 onesies or sets that baby can change into in the event of spills, blow outs or change of weather.
  2. Pacifier: For me, I love the Wubba Nubba paci! It comes with a plush toy animal attached to the pacifier which helps to easily find paci and also baby can easily grab themselves. I swear by this paci because we were always able to keep track of it and it never rolled off anywhere.
  3.  Ziplock bags/trash bags: you know, in case of a tragic blow out!
  4. Diapers
  5. Burp Cloths: about 2-3
  6. Nursing Cover
  7. Changing Pad: I like the Ju-Ju-Be one as its memory foam and I also throw in a few disposable changing pads too!
  8. Socks
  9. Disposable Tee-Pees: I am having a boy and I don’t want to get squirted on!
  10. Baby Wipes
  11. Anti Bacterial wipes and spray: to wipe down those gross changing tables in bathrooms and a travel size antibacterial spray to sanitize it!
  12. Muslin Swaddle Blankets or Receiving Blankets

I hope this post was helpful. If you are not expecting, but know of a mom to be who is, send them this blog post! I am sure they would love to check out the Ju-Ju-Be products and also get an idea of what to pack in their little one diaper bag! Not to mention this bag would make a great baby shower gift too!
