white shirt dress, closet remix, j crew factory shirt dress

Original look from 2 years ago!

Hey loves!

So here is part 2 of the closet remix series. I love this J. Crew Factory white shirt dress that I wore on the blog about two years ago (see original post HERE). Shirt dresses have a way of being super casual or nicely dressed up. So I decided to show both versions of a casual, every day vibe vs. a dressed up version with heels and a statement bag. You can not go wrong with either look. When I wore this dress for my photo shoot, it was sooo comfortable. I could have worn it the entire day. But, mommy duty called and that typically means wearing white is a disaster waiting to happen lol.

White shirt dresses offers a really clean, crisp spring look. But, any color shirt dress will give you just the same vibe. The one I am wearing is, as I stated, is about two years old. But, shirt dresses don’t go out of style. You can jazz them up with a corset belt or a colorful scarf. The options are endless. Most importantly, they are a tried and true staple piece and I am definitely picking up a few other colors and prints for the summer.

What are your weekend plans?

I cannot wait for the weekend, its filled with plans for one of my favorite things to do. Eat! lol. I am not sure if I mentioned this here, but I will be in Las Vegas next week for our annual girls trip. Oh the fun that will be had! So I’ll be gearing up with last minute purchases and trying to get my house in order before I leave. My mom always said to make sure your house is in order before you leave town. So a little grocery shopping is in order and preparing a few meals so the hubby can throw them in the microwave. A wife and mother’s job is never done I tell you!

Also, I plan to share with you some of the clothing pieces I got in for my trip, once they’ve all arrived. So stay tuned to my Instagram to find out more!

Have a great weekend!

TGIT!

I bought this  denim dress last year at one of my favorite go to stores for great sales, J.Crew Factory! As soon as I tried it on, I was in love. Its hard to find the perfect denim dress! Either they are way too short, too flimsy, or has unnecessary detailing. So when you run across a gem like this one, you buy it.. IMMEDIATELY! I was happy that they brought this dress back this spring so that you can get it too. It appears to be the same dress except the buttons are different. What I love about this dress is that it does not require much but a few accessories to bring it to life. However, the styling of the dress definitely gives you something to work with. I love the slits of the hem on the side of the dress which makes it a little flirty and modern. The cut of this dress is very flattering too, so its not hanging on you like a sack. I added a preppy vibe by popping’ my collar and rollin up the sleeves. After all, I am wearing J. Crew folks!

Again, this dress really doesn’t require much! It’s simple, lightweight and perfect for spring! I adored pairing it with my favorite, taupe, lace up sandals and leather bag. Add a bright lip and statement sunnies and you are on your way my friend!

Mother’s Day is this Sunday! Are you ready? I posted a gift guide from my previous post featuring  francesca’s! Be sure to check it out for some fun gift ideas I’m sure you will love!!

See you Sunday for my next post!

Hi again! So you want to know how to wear bright colors for spring?  You’ve come to the right place! Now, I’m not the girl that wear super bright colors from head to toe.  I admire those girls who can do that, but its just not my thing. However, I surely love pops of color to bring a colorful vibe to my wardrobe. Its the safe route, but I’m here for it! I think this outfit is a great example on how a sprinkle of color can definitely be a game changer to an otherwise plain outfit. My bold, blue plaid shirt and the vibrant orange of these GORGEOUS mules are pretty much everything! Its just enough color to balance out the crisp white pants too. So here are a few simple tips on how to wear bright colors for spring. Are you ready? Let’s go!

  1. Don’t overthink it: Wearing bright colors can be a little overwhelming for someone who isn’t use to it. So don’t overthink it. Do it to your comfort level so that you can rock your bright colors in confidence!
  2. Check out the color wheel: The color wheel is GREAT tool when you are trying to determine what colors would look great with what. I often times pull it up so that I can get inspired of new color combinations. Its the perfect guide to have on hand when you are uncertain of what can work. I like this one because it gives a variation of shades for each color. USE IT!
  3. Start with shoes and purse: Again, if you are not into all over color, your shoes and handbag is a perfect place to use it! In this outfit, you can see the orange is my pop of color and it works. Your eyes aren’t going all over the place taking in the colors.  Shades like orange, pinks, teals and greens are perfect for a “pop” of color!
  4. Accessorize: There are some gorgeous, bright “spring” accessories out there. I absolutely love using accessories to include color. I’ve made it easy for you and linked some beautiful options for you below. Speaking of , I’m OBSESSED with these!
  5. Makeup and Nail Polish: You probably didn’t consider letting your eyes, lips and nails doing the talking on wearing bright colors. But, you should! I would suggest not going super crazy in this area. But, hey, do you girl! A bold lip, bright eyeliner or colorful mani in pinks, oranges, purples and teals always look amazing and so vibrant for spring. I can’t wait to pull out some teal gel eyeliner and I already have my white mani and pedi (another cute option) right now.

I hope you enjoyed these tips on how to wear bright colors for spring! Are you a fan of bright colors? How do you incorporate it into your wardrobe or look? I’d love to know!

Hi There! I call this look: EASY!!! A weather appropriate jacket, tailored shirt, ripped jeans and a nice boot and you’re done. The bag is an oldie, but definite goodie. Its from Target’s collaboration with Philip Lim from a few years ago. If you missed this collaboration, I’m definitely sorry for you. I came out of it with this bag, the last one in the store I found at 12 noon! A pure shopping miracle I tell you!!
The last few days my dad was in town for his birthday. He mainly came to visit my little girl, Camille lol. It was such a great time with him here. Camille was 9 months since he last saw her and she’s grown so much. They had the best time hanging out together. We visited our local pumpkin patch, went shopping and just enjoyed each others company. My mom passed away five years ago, so any moment I can spend with my dad is priceless. He returned back home today and we miss him dearly.
Tell me, how did you spend your weekend? Are you ready for the holidays? I’m a Christmas fanatic so I can’t wait to get in the full holiday spirit!!
See you Sunday for my next post!!

The weather is finally changing and cooling down a bit in Dallas. It’s the perfect time to start layering and adding stylish fall vests to your closet. I love vests for this reason and there are so many great, affordable options out there to build your fall wardrobe with. I love that these vests are neutral in tone and can work with so many outfit options. You could layer them with a long sleeve sweater or t shirt with jeans or leather leggings, or edge up a knit dress by topping it off with a vest as well. Fall vest’s are my go- to as the weather turns crisp and chilly. I can’t wait to pull out mine to wear for the Pumpkin Patch this weekend!!
How do you wear your fall vests?

Hey loves! If you can tell by the title of this post, I am celebrating my 6 month blogiversary of my blog, Alwayz Fashionably Late!! I can’t believe that I finally started my fashion blog and have been going strong for six months!! It’s unreal!! I’ve rounded up for you my favorite top ten blog posts as a look back from where I got started. Please click on the links and take a look in case you missed it!
When I first decided to start a blog, I was so fearful. I was nervous about the response I would get from those who know me, people who didn’t know me and what people would think of me blogging. I’m a very private person, I have a select group of friends and I don’t open up much to those I don’t know. As my mother would to say, “keep living and you’ll learn!” I never understood what that meant until I got older, but basically I’ve learned along the way that quality over quantity is key with relationships with others and I prefer it that way. But, starting a blog is opening myself up to others I don’t know. How and why would I do this?
Well, I knew how much I really felt inspired by other fashion bloggers because I could relate to them simply based on their style. You almost feel a little connected to bloggers you follow because they are letting you in on a piece of their life. Not everything is picture perfect as it seems, but you feel connected with others over the images they share that simply inspire you. So I thought, why can I not be that individual that inspire others? Maybe its high time I break, just a little, my shell and put myself out there and at least try.
Well, I tell you what, its been an amazing six months of blogging! I’ve met awesome bloggers, photographers, learned so much about the business of blogging and opened myself up to the possibility of making new friends who understands what this blog life is about. Its not easy! In case you didn’t know, it takes a lot of work! But, living in Dallas, I feel like I have an advantage because of so many great local bloggers, organizations and photographers are right here that I have worked and networked with that have made this journey so much easier.
I would like to thank you, my readers for the encouragement, sharing with friends and just for being you! I am definitely grateful and excited for bigger and better things to come. Of course, I have to thank my hubby for being so understanding and letting me do what makes me happy! Ok, enough of my thank you’s! I can’t wait to see what the next six months will bring to my blog!
Have a fabulous week!
I’ve linked up a few of the items in the posts above!

I struggle with wearing bright colors in the summer. My summer wardrobe typically consist of boyfriend jeans/shorts, tees and a wedge or sandal. The most color can typically be found on my feet lol. I say each time summer rolls around that I am going to do better with my summer wardrobe and play with color a little more. Well, I think I have achieved that here, no? These shorts are the perfect length, no cheeks showing here! The top? I absolutely love these type of blouses, they are so easy to throw on and keep it moving. The shoes, yep, they’re pretty much greatness!
I am super excited to share with you that I am now a part of rewardStyle!! If you are not familiar with rewardStyle, they have a great feature for Instagram users called LiketoKnow. It With LiketoKnow. It users can sign up and shop your favorite Instagramers (namely me lol) posts and have product links sent directly to your email! All you do once you’re signed up, is “like” my post and the product links are sent directly to you! I absolutely love this service because with just a “double tap” of an image, I can shop looks from my email without having to hunt and search for where the blogger purchased the item. I know, this is dangerous for a shopaholic. But, trust me, its truly worth it!
Be sure to sign up here if you haven’t already! I’d love to know if there is anyone else out there who struggles a bit with adding color to your summer wardrobe. I LOVE the autumn season, so I will be impatiently waiting for it to roll around. The way Dallas is set up, that may not be until November 🙁
Thanks so much for stopping by and see you soon on Tuesday!!

It’s 12 midnight and I am up writing this blog post. Is it possible to be so tired that you take a nap at 9 at night because you still have things to do and can’t go to bed yet? This is my life right now. I work full time, have a 10 month old baby and the daily struggle of trying to figure out, “whats for dinner?” I know some of you can relate. Life goes by so fast and quickly, you struggle to find time to get things done sometimes. When I decided to start a blog, I thought, “am I going to have time for it?” I knew it was something I really desired to do, but did not want to fail at it if I could not be consistent. Well, I am only a few months into blogging and I couldn’t be happier to be up at midnight writing this post.
Blogging is something I really enjoy. It’s a creative outlet for me to do something different outside of my 9-5. The key word is that I enjoy this! You make time for things you like to do and I am learning that this is one of those things. If nobody else reads my blog, I know that I am still happy to create looks and throw them out to the universe and say that I did it! I don’t worry too much about page views or if people will like the outfits I put together because I am passionate about doing this and I love it. I wish I started blogging earlier if I knew what happiness it would bring me.
Is there anything that you have in your mind that you want to do, but haven’t put any action towards doing it?? I implore you to hop to it! Get out of your own way and make it happen! What’s important is to do what is on your heart with the comfort of not questioning yourself and thinking, “what if?!” There is nothing like perfect timing and with a little prayer and planning, things will fall in line. So I challenge you, we have plenty of time left in 2015, whatever it is on your “things to do” list, or “I wish I could” list, DO IT!!! What do you have to lose?!
