Hey loves!

I know, I know I have been M.I.A!!! But, I am back! 2017 has been weird for me as I don’t feel like it’s a new year. So, I haven’t gotten my life and told myself, “ITS TIME TO CRUSH 2017!” I have basically still been on my 2016 mindset, which, isn’t or has not been bad. But, I know its time to go higher and I can’t do that until I made up my mind to get started right?!

I decided to get a little personal on the blog today and share “Five Things About Myself to Improve in 2017.” Now, I do know that I am quite a fabulous person lol, however, your girl could use some work! Its nothing like evaluating yourself and saying, “Girl, do better!” We all have flaws that we need to improve about ourselves. When you recognize those flaws and don’t take the steps to make positive changes, then what are you really doing? I cannot be the “GIRL BOSS” I dream to be if I am not applying myself and doing “GIRL BOSS” things, am I right??

So I am going to let you in on a few things that I know I need to work on about myself for 2017! I like to be transparent with my followers so you guys can get a sense of who I am.  I am a wife, mom, blogger and everything else I need to be to others. Life can get a bit crazy, so its time to buckle down and get to work! Here are my five things that I plan to hold myself accountable for in 2017. Let’s go!

Five Things About Myself to Improve in 2017

  1. Procrastination: Your girl GOT IT BAD!! In fact, there are a lot of opportunities that I see out there for myself that I pass on because I know my procrastination game is real!! I am easy to push things off until later. Honestly, I don’t even know why I allow myself to do that knowing that I have a 2-year-old toddler. I am always tired by the end of the day and when the couch calls my name, I answer! In 2017, I cannot allow procrastination to hold me back from the things that can allow myself to be great and create the brand I dream of.                                                                   Solution: Create a weekly task list to complete by Sunday. This will allow me time to schedule and plan my week and allow for changes instead of stressing myself to get it done daily.
  2. Healthy Eating: Y’all, since the holidays I have been eating any and everything. My trouble zone is my stomach area and I am not liking what I am seeing. I get bloated very easily to the point I look three to four months preggo. Last summer, my family and I did a weight loss challenge and I actually did really well! I noticed that I wasn’t bloated as usual and that I had more energy. Personally, I learned that I need to cut back on bread and sugar which was the culprit of my bloating. Another problem is, I don’t like working out! I can go strong for about a month or two and then I don’t want to do it anymore. I never really enjoy it.                                                                          Solution: Starting today get back on my healthy eating! No breads or sugar and increase my water intake. Find a workout that I enjoy and commit to attending or completing starting at twice a week.
  3. Spending: Lord, hold my mule! This should really be number one, but whatever. I really need to get better at saving, budgeting and reduce impulse buying. You all know that I LOVE to shop! I am great at finding affordable fashion and look for less deals. Problem is, even though an item may be a great deal, I am purchasing other stuff that’s a great deal too and it all adds up. With blogging, some of my outfits are sponsored, meaning, provided by the brand. But, for the most part its all me swiping that card honey. Not to mention making sure Camille is fly and cute and household expenses as well. I am getting close to 40 y’all, its time to start thinking long-term and retirement! Wow, I’m real grown lol.                                                                                                                                                          Solution: Create a monthly spending budget that allows me to shop, but reduce the amount that I am spending. Also, to use cash for purchases that are not online. Maybe I can actually leave Target without spending hundreds perhaps? #goals
  4. Housekeeping: My house is unorganized y’all and I am not the best housekeeper. It’s really unorganized and the walls are closing in with all of Camille’s toys. We are hoping to move in the next few years since we also want to expand our family with one more little one. So, I have to do better at maintaining my household and reducing the clutter. It really irritates me to come home to the clutter and mess. I can’t take it anymore!                                  Solution: Eliminate furniture that is not regularly used and get more functional storage options. Reduce the clutter by selling or donating to Goodwill or Salvation Army. Also, create a schedule to do a “deep cleaning” once or twice a month and then maintain for the other two weeks.
  5. Blogging/ Business: I want to start my own business in relation to my blog. But, I am not set on exactly what product I want to sell or market. I initially thought t-shirts, but I don’t know if that’s something I am completely sold on. I really don’t want to spend time on something that I am not 100% about. But, I know that in order to turn my blog into a brand, I really need to focus on a product to grow my audience and financially. Solution: Prayer and research! I don’t want to do anything without confirmation from God that this is the right path. But, faith without works is dead. So I need to research to ensure what I really want to do and if its beneficial to this time period or season in my life.

Whew! Ok, those five things I must focus on this year. I really need to make sure I am not deterred and stay focus on accomplishing these goals.

I would love to know what are some things you feel you can improve upon personally and what solutions or tactics you have in place to get it done!!

So please share and let’s make 2017 AMAZING!

Hello There!!

“What to Wear to Work On Monday” Part 2 is here!! This series is a work in progress for me because I struggle every morning wondering what to wear to work. I’ve fell off in that area and need to get it together. I really need to start focusing more on work appropriate pieces so stay tuned for more. This series will not only be helpful for you, but for me too! Yes, I am back again in these stunning culottes from Ann Taylor!! I wore them on the blog a while ago in navy and I am wearing the stripe pair here (now 40% off). They are simply amazing and I love the flare and structure on these pants. These are perfect for a business casual office environment. I added my trusty denim shirt and tan sandals and called it a day!!

This week has been really long for me as I am starting a new work schedule and new process at my job. My days are a bit longer and I am in traffic coming and going home. It is definitely an adjustment for me because my time at home with Camille is already limited before she heads off to bed. Being a working mom is hard! I feel that I don’t get enough time with my little one and they grow so fast! I often look at her and I swear she grew from the day before. There’s simply not enough hours in the day. I wish I was a millionaire,  then I would not have these #adulting work place/home life struggles. LOL.

Enough venting:) I hope you had a wonderful weekend!

What to wear to work on Monday is a question many of you ask on Sunday night, am I right?  I know tomorrow is July 4th, but you know what I mean! Lol. Many of you have asked me to incorporate some office ready looks on my blog. To tell you the truth, I literally just wake up and throw on clothes for work. Camille takes up most of my time in the morning, so I just do a quick ten minute face to “make up” for the tragedy of what I am wearing that day.  For a long time, I was seriously lacking inspiration on wear to work items when it came to my closet. But, when I came across these culottes from Ann Taylor?! Honey, all kinds of inspiration sparked! One being this totally wearable outfit for the office!

So here is the start to a new series on my blog called “What to Wear to Work on Monday!”  Once a month, I will feature office appropriate looks that are stylish and of course, affordable!! I know these culottes may not be acceptable in all workplace environments, but for those of you who work in a business casual office, these are totally doable! You can style these with a tie neck blouse come fall with a cute blazer, v neck sweaters layered over a white shirt, denim shirts or plain tees with dainty jewelry. I’ve linked some options for you below. The possibilities are endless! These culottes will also carry you into Happy Hour or dinner out after work. So grab these babies NOW!

See you Thursday for my next post!

Hey Loves! I’m glad to have you stop by the blog today. After three attempts of my laptop shutting down on me, I sure hope you enjoy this post! I’m back wearing this adorable olive green bomber jacket again. I always reach for it when I head out the house. Its great finding those “trendy” yet practical pieces to incorporate in your wardrobe. I have a feeling this bomber jacket will be worn plenty, trend or not! I’m also wearing my favorite leather jogger pants. These pants are one of my go to’s. For $15, you better get you a pair NOW!! Its nothing like comfy pants (drawstring waist anyone?) you can wear day or night and feel like a fashionista!! I’m also loving my sunglasses. Target always gets me in the accessory aisle. These “cat eye” sunglasses are no exception and I am happy to add them to my collection.
A few weeks back, I wrote a blog post called “Twenty Things You Don’t Know About Me” and I spoke on how cautious I am with friendships. I wanted to touch base on this a little bit. I’m 34 years old and I have had a few experiences on failed friendships. One: my best friend that I had known since high school, decided that she no longer wanted to be my friend after I got married in 2009 and I haven’t heard from her since. How did that come to be? I have no clue and couldn’t tell you! Two: my college friends/roommates and I had a huge falling out, partially over an idiot boyfriend I was dealing with. I saw a side of my “friends” that I didn’t like or trust. In looking back, I wish I never met the guy! Maybe if I didn’t, I still would’ve been friends with these ladies. But, in my heart I knew it was a good thing that the “friendships” were no more and I have no regrets.
Finding friends as a woman is completely different then men. Men can bond easily over sports, Playstation games or any other random topic. For women, it takes an open mind to be willing to connect with another woman.  As I said in my previous post, I didn’t make friends until a year after I moved here. Its important to have solid friendships you can count on. Someone you can share things with and be yourself. So today, I want to encourage you to evaluate your friendships! Are you pouring into them more then they are pouring into you? Do you feel in your heart this person has your back, cheers you on and loves you? Do they show signs of envy? Mistrust? Is this friendship only for a season or a lifetime?
It was in my heart to share with you some of the different types of friendships in my life currently that I love and would not change for the world.
1) Can call at anytime and talk about absolutely nothing
2) Haven’t talked in months or years but can pick up the conversation like nothing changed
3) Text buddies: life is busy and a phone call may take too much effort. But, a text is just as fun too!
4) The friend who cheers you on, share your deepest secrets and is proud to be your friend
5) The friend you have known all your life that you can talk about childhood memories and experiences with from way back when.
I saw this quote on Instagram and boy, did it resonate with me!
“You don’t need a certain number of friends. You just need a number of friends you can be certain of!”
Tell me your experiences with friendships! Do you have the same “types” of friends that I do?

Hi there! Valentine’s Day is on the horizon and there are so many ways to share in this special day. Whether its with your honey or a budding new romance, its always nice to know that love is in the air. But, that doesn’t mean your girlfriends are not included!! I bring you our “Galentine’s Day” collaborative shoot with these blogger babes: AquiaEryn, and Melody !!! These ladies are lifestyle and fashion bloggers right here in the Dallas area. When I tell you, these ladies are stylish, creative and so much fun, I really mean it. We had a great time and brunch plans are already in the making!! It was amazing partnering with thredUp as we picked out some cute, gently used designer pieces to add to our wardrobe collection. I picked out this black, moto leather jacket by Zara for under $65!!! I mean, what a deal! The detailing of the jacket and the touches of leather are right up my alley. We spent the afternoon wine tasting at Delaney Vineyards & Winery, a local vineyard,  right here in Texas. After a few sips…. or five we took to the vineyards and shot away!
Tell me, are you getting with your girlfriends and having a “Galentine’s Day” of your own??
Please stop by AquiaMelody and Eryn’s blog to see what they got from thredUp and for more eye candy goodness!! I promise you won’t be disappointed!

Merry Christmas Eve!! Today’s look is another New York Street Style shot from my weekend stay in New York! It was so hard for me to pack for this trip because I had to consider the weather, outfits for my blog shoot ,as well as what I would wear there day and night. I had to be very smart about what I was packing so that I could wear my blog shoot outfits while I was there. Thats why I love this look so much. It’s easy, simple and can go day to night. I wore this to see The Lion King on Broadway (AH-MAZING by the way)! These Tory Burch Over the Knee boots made it so easy for walking the streets of New York while keeping warm and comfy. The poncho cape is an Ann Taylor find from last year and is super warm, which was perfect for night time! If I could share a piece of my wardrobe to my readers it would be the cape for sure! The cross body bag I wore in my last post was so functional and perfect for traveling as well. It’s definitely the cutest little bag out there right now.
I wish you all a fabulous and safe Christmas! I wish you and your family all the blessings in the world!!

Hi There! Thanks for stopping by for today’s blog post. The weather here in Dallas is still transitioning to fall. So I thought it was perfect to bring out my favorite leather pants and leopard studded heels before it gets too cold. I also am wearing the Banana Republic Olive trench dress I wore a few blog posts back. Check it out here! As you may know, olive is a huge fashion trend this fall. Its also one of my favorite colors to wear. So I was super happy to find this dress. Oh, make sure to size down as it runs big and it is NOT fitted!! But, I love how you can style this dress in many ways, especially in this look with the leather pants. It’s nothing like getting multiple uses out of a clothing item to further justify your purchase, am I right?
Also, sorry that I did not post Tuesday. I was simply exhausted Monday night and had not one bit of energy left to do anything besides get in the bed. I don’t know if its mommy hood or getting older that  makes me so tired, but its challenging. I always advocate to take care of your health first and rest, so that’s exactly what I did. I feel better now, so back to business as usual!
Did you know that I am participating in a great giveaway? You can win Stuart Weitzman “Highland” Over the knee boot and $600 in Nordstrom gift card. Click here to enter!!!
See you Sunday for a little cape action on the blog!!

Hello! Thanks for stopping by the blog today! I’m loving this “Girl Boss” look. This outfit is suitable for work, church or whatever you want it to be. I love layering jackets, blazers and vests over my dresses. What a perfect pairing when I combined this sleeveless trench dress and my new Banana Republic olive trench dress to create this look! The sleeveless trench dress is last year Ann Taylor. Although I loved the dress, it never fit me right when I wore it buttoned as a dress, but I held on to it with plans to layer it and leave it open. Ironically, this olive trench dress is a bit difficult to find a good fit in as well. You definitely have to go a size down or two because this dress runs big and the fit is not very tailored so keep that in mind.
I was so happy to make these two dresses work by wearing them together. I wanted to share with you to always look for pieces that are interchangeable.  This makes it super easy to maximize your looks and get the most wear out of your closet. This will allow me to wear the sleeveless trench dress with a long sleeve top and jeans for another outfit idea. I can also pair the olive trench dress with cute leather leggings and heels to create a fresh new look.
Tell me, how do you take two separate pieces in your closet and make them multi functional? I’d love to hear!!
See you Tuesday! I have a beauty post coming up reviewing my picks from the Sephora Friends & Family Sale!!
